Ordered some books from Amazon to be delivered by mail---they were in town last Friday, got inexplicably sent to Memphis, and the package couldn't be delivered today because it was pouring down sheets of rain---I'd just as soon NOT have wet books.
Ordered a new bag for myself from Amazon, used UPS. It was scanned in as delivered to my front door this evening, but NO. Amazon suggests computer error and for me to wait until Friday to raise hell. (I have a friend who works for UPS and will actually call her tomorrow) Even though the former neighbor is now in state prison, I wouldn't put it past some of these other folks to KEEP a free package.
I talk about all this because I would rather not think about a client I had today. He has dementia of some kind, has picked up his 3rd DUI in 12 months, and NOW the family wants to "do something." Unfortunately, he is looking at a mandatory 6 months. I like the gentleman, but the strictness of the DUI law doesn't let me offer a diminished responsibility defense. This is one where the prosecutor, judge and I aren't going to feel that good---except that he needs to be off the road.
Must go to bed; 7 a.m. city court tomorrow with all the night shift defendants and cops. Hugs of the various holiday seasons, including upcoming Winter Solstice, to all!
