My first non-fic post since my "hello." I feel flush with accomplishment.

Anyhoo- we finally went to see Sweeny Todd tonight, and this Elder Goth feels compelled to put down her thoughts for the world to see. Not a review, just a brief observation. So, no spoilers here for the two people who didn't get to see it before I did.

That's a movie I'm eager to see, yes. The Burton/Depp team is historically one that I quite enjoy, so I'm looking forward to it. Hubby's not big on musicals, though, so it'll either be a solo trip or a movie-date with my sister-in-law.

Also, randomly, I rather like the phrase 'Elder Goth' and it somehow makes me smile to see your journal titled after a Cure song.

Y'know, I'm glad Depp won an award, back-handed and qualified as it may be. The man does amazing, amazing character acting and I can't help feeling that the industry and the awards institution get some sort of thrill out of snubbing him repeatedly. As if he only won this one because it's a qualified category and can be sort of pushed to the side - 'Oh, it's just for comedy/musical', not an overall-best sort of thing. *shrug* But I guess it's a start, and perhaps better than nothing. Perhaps.
