Friday: Dinner with jakejr and ebonlock, yay! Went to FJL and wound up eating too much, because I have no self-control. :P We returned to my place and hung out and chatted for a long while, and it was lovely. Thanks to both of them for the evening. :)

Saturday: Headed over to Purlescence for what was meant to be a brief plying lesson from Sandi; it turned into a slightly longer session, due to a class cancellation, until I moved myself back to the main room and continued with lots of encouragement.

I ended the four hours there with this and this. The former is a 3-ply which includes a single that was very, very overspun, and it made the yarn pretty interesting--Sandi and I were laughing over it as it was forming up. She eventually suggested they wind off that bobbin to try to take some of the energy/twist out of it, so the last two skeins (the latter picture) are 2-plys: the bigger one is mostly the two non-overspun bobbins I had, while the smaller one is made of singles wound off the overspun bobbin.

I'm going to take a moment to preen that thanks to Sandi's oversight, the skeins in the latter photos are Spinner's Nirvana: almost perfectly balanced.

I need to give them a good soak and hang to set the twist. And then gauge swatch and do something with them, as I kinda promised them to Sprout. :)

Sadly, midway through the session, I bent over to reach something on my wheel, and my lower back seized up. Not so bad as to incapacitate me, but it's forced me to moving gingerly and doing a lot of sitting down with back support. Meh.

After the store visit, I came home and spun some more (working on a braid of Royal Hare merino superwash in something like 'Anderson Forest' colorway, i.e., green and a burgundy'ish red that I'm attempting (a) to spin very thin so it will ply to roughly sport or fingering weight and (b) work on color reinforcement) until tavella arrived, then watched four more episodes of ST:TOS.

Sunday: Bills, babying my back, then down to Entropy for football, although the afternoon games were meh (the Bears and the Broncos played in the early game) so we wound up watching a poorly constructed Looney Toons montage movie off of Netflix Instant Streaming before the SNF game between the Niners and the Eagles. The Niners are, once again, full of fail, and I took off early in the 4th quarter after I'd decided they'd pretty much sealed their implosion.

Got another load of laundry done and watched two more episodes of "Fringe" ('Brown Betty', which was a wonderful sidestep/recap/musical episode shot in film noir style, which I kinda love; and 'Northwest Passage', which was another change-up from the usual style) before bedtime.
