In general, my answer is persitance. Getting involved in the politics of the game is as simple as being active on the lists, but not so active where you point continual 3 line responses consisting of jibberish, screw you hippy posts, or the famous one line "I with with X" posts. None of these will make you visible to the political game, or raise any regard for your PC ( ... )

This is actually something I'm interested in hearing the answer on from others. I am very happy being involved mostly in my own domain, occasionally on the regional level (now multiple regions since I moved and can't seem to stop meddling in the NE), and otherwise not doing much in other regions save RPing with ties my characters have.

However, I know people in my domain who want to be more involved nationally and I simply have no advice other than 'live on IRC' or 'be part of a crazy cheese bloodline so people need you'.

1. Email an ST in your chain, but outside your domain, asking them for a way to get into some plot.

2. Send an email to an OOC list saying what kind of things your PC is interested in, and asking for a ticket onto a plotbus.

3. Make friends with the people who "always" seem to be on all the good plotbuses, and ask to tag along next time. (P.S. - I seem to always end up in plot of some type or another. Make ties with my new PC and I'll drag you along. :P )

4. Proxy Proxy Proxy. Go places via proxy or IRC. It's free.

Those are my suggestions. If you want further details on them, feel free to ask....
