Event 35, Day 2
Urgh. Poker is stupid. Key hands:
1. 120k starting stack, 500-1000 blinds. Vanessa limps, I raise 2k more with TT. Flop K32, I bet 4k, she calls. Turn T, I bet 8k, she calls. River A, I bet 20k, she calls. Good start!
2. Vanessa raises to 2k from the button, I call with Tc2c. Flop QdTs2d, I check, she bets 2500, I make it 6500, she calls. Turn Kc, I bet 7k, she raises to 17k, I call. River Jc, I check, she checks back, showing QJ and taking the pot. Down to 85k.
3. Vanessa min-raises again from the button, I call with Qd2d. Flop is KdJdTs. So this is interesting right away. I have to ask myself how far I am willing to go with this hand. I am generally a big proponent of getting all the money in with OE straight+flush draws, but the problem here is that I'll never get a ton of money in without being behind. No sane opponent is going to put in a bunch of money with like KT or AA or something like that then fold. So I check, she bets 3000, I make it 8000, and she makes it 18000. Hm. There is some possibility here she is putting in the third bet for information but my feeling is more that she just has a set or a straight than that she is trying to figure out whether her hand is good. So given that it's only 10k more to me, I'd rather call. The turn is a 4c, I check and she bets 35k. So yes, she is definitely serious, and shoving here I think is just suicide, so I'm forced into the call-and-pray mode. River is the 4s and I check-fold, drawing a "did you really just chase me down on a flush draw?" Down to 35k.
3. 1000-2000 now, I'm back up to 95k or so after a bunch of medium pots. Vanessa limps, I make it 4k more with 77, she calls. Flop J52, I bet 5k, she makes it 16k, I call. Turn 4, I check, she bets 35k, I kinda want to throw up now. I call, river is a 3, check-check, she shows J8. I guess I can either fold the turn or check the flop, I dunno.
4. Down to ~40k, I limp, she makes it 5k more, I ship it in with AJ, she calls with AT. T in the window and a 98 behind it, ace on the turn, ace on the river, oh, I guess nut boat is good, gg.
