Of course, the main difference between the argument against advertiser pressure then was (hilariously enough) that the advertisers in the copyright infringement actually could legally force LJ's hand but LJ was still assuring us they wouldn't take it; for users in the United States, at least, they could not in this particular situation but LJ folded almost immediately.
I do have to say, though, I've been reading news and the next time a Canadian or Australian says "BUT WHY AM I SUBJECT TO U.S. LAW?" I'm going to hold off on the "you agreed to it with the TOS" and instead tell them they're damn lucky they are in this case, because in this area U.S. law is way more lenient-- it LJ was holding them to their native laws, they would be in jail for child porn for something that's legal in the United States.
