HIDE THE WINCEST GUYS
For those of you wondering what's going on with the "banned livejournals" thing, you can read about it here.
Or I can summarize: livejournal has been banning accounts (fanfiction communities, RP journals) for promoting illegal activity, like incest and pedophilia. There's some talk of it being at the behest of Warriors for Innoncence, but they deny it. In any case, it's clear that someone is reporting journals to LJ, and once reported LJ has no choice but to suspend them.
I'm still sorting out my feelings on this. (On the one hand, freedom of speech, on the other hand, LJ does have the right to control what we say on its server. It's like being banned from a message board. Hopefully, there will be some clearer definition of where fandom stands legally and that writing about incest/pedophilia doesn't mean condoning incest/pedophilia.) But because everybody's freaking out and half of the people on my friends list don't seem to know why, voila!
