Although wood-based EES devices demonstrate highelectrochemical performance, especially with ultrahigh massloading for thick electrode design, several challenges remainand need further exploration:
(1) the scalability is limited bythe size of the wood slice;
(2) macrosized pores are undesiredin some devices;
(3) the mechanical robustness of carbonizedwood is still relatively low compared with commercial Cu or Alfoil current collectors.
Further material and structuralengineering, such as new wood cutting process, pore sizeengineering, and hybridization design are desirable foraddressing these issue.(с)
