Transformers - more than meets the eye.

Movie: Transformers
Director: Michael Bay
Starring: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, some little annoying Decipticon, other Autobots and Decepticons and some humans, who are only there to advance the plot, so they aren't important.

Rating: Three Hearts out of Five.

I'm not going to do one of my usual Sarcastic Movie Reivews.  Not this time. I'm going to refrain myself...

I'm here to say that way way back in the 1980's, secret government employees, dug up famous guys and ladies...oh wait, wrong show...

Okay way, way back in the 1980's when many of my friends were little rug huggers and toddlers and under the age of 12, there was this cartoon show, about cars and trucks and planes that turned into these giant robots. There were good ones, the Autobots, and the bad ones, the Decepticons. Now anyone in the 1980's that wasn't doing the yuppie thing (no I'm NOT a yuppie, I'm part of Gen X, I'll have you know) should know about this show, called Transformers, and if you don't know about it, then you've been living with your head stuck up your arse and need to get it out of there right now. Now go wash your head, it smells like loser.

Did I say I wasn't going to do one of my Sarcastic Movie Reviews? In the words of Optimus Prime, "Oops, my bad."

So, fast forward from the 1980s to the 21st century, and they've gone and made a live action movie of the Transformers, directed by Michael Bay. Who is this Michael Bay, you might ask? He's the noob who first told Steven Spielbucks he wasn't going to do the Transformers movie becuase it was stupid. Who the hell tells Steven Spielbucks when he calls and says "I want you to direct my movie" that it's stupid? MIchael Bay that is and later on, Spielbucks had the decency to let him take that back and he did direct the Transformers movie.

Was this a good thing? Well, I say yes. Oh sure, it's over the top, it's goofy, it's big on booms and things blowing up real good and cheesy, limited dialogue and CGI coming out of the wazoo and I've seem more personality out of the things my cat barfs up at 2 in the morning where the humans are concerned, but man, it was a hell of a lot of fun. Things went BOOM, they got Peter Cullen to do Optimus Prime's voice...for the unwashed and uninitiated he is the ORIGINAL VOICE OF OPTIMUS PRIME!!! Hugo Weaving was a suitably sinister Megatron and the Autobots had more personality than the humans and they were fun. Bumblebee was the best of course (he was always my fav anyway). The Decepticons didn't have much in the way of personality, except they were evil, but being evil, we aren't supposed to relate to them so no personality for them, dammit. Just for the Autobots. Yeah.

I like it when things go boom in my action movies.

I say it's deserving of three hearts because it had things blow up, mecha space aliens and for once a female character who knew her stuff about cars! YEAH!

And I dunno, Optimus Prime saying "Oops, my bad" was too funny for words. Heehee...and the whole bit with the chuhuahua...I was seriously hoping Ironhide would do it in, but damn, no such luck.

Bumblebee pees on a secret agent, by the way, which was great. Give it to the man, I say!

Whoo-aa!
