Because impulsiveness is good

...even if it's just my particular brand of low-key decision-making.

End of May, I'm going to San Diego with my mother -- and the "with my mother" part is largely incidental, since she's got business-y plans for the entire week, which leaves me rubbing my hands gleefully. I'm currently Googling voraciously for ideas on where to go and what to see.

Everything I've found either sounds incredibly cool, or ridiculously dangerous. The San Diego Zoo is obviously a must (it's the Gardens! How could I *not* go?), but I don't think I'd want to just jaunt down to Mexico. Likewise, I'd really like to figure out what Wikipedia is referring to when it says that the city has mesas (I thought those were not the most habitable things in the world?) but the beaches, I've pretty much ruled out - this thing called "riptide" has me terrified, as does the idea that you have to stay out of the water for three days after it rains, AND that the cliffs are prone to collapse [1]- what the hell? between all of that and the crazy sharks in the water, why would anyone go swimming, ever? (And then there are earthquakes.)

But, anyway, I've never been anywhere near the west coast - you can't tell at all, can you? - so it'll be cool.

Short aside: Sie sagte, sie liebe ihn nicht mehr; er hat aber immer noch Hoffnung, egal was das heißt. (Aber hallo, Freundchen.)
