"got any Shuggie?"

Back from doing the radio interview at the OPB offices over on John's Landing. Nice place they've got there, obviously with some seriously yummy radio mikes and headphones. The Underland Press wovel crew + me interviewed for a little less than an hour over and ISDN link to "Rick" in the Bay Area, and he grilled us about what the hell we're doing. He brought up Dickens first, and then I had to respond, "I need to do some more research, but I'm pretty sure Dickens expanded and digressed from an original plot because he was getting paid by the word... but I don't know whether he outlined the stories first, or how tightly, etc. Cool, though, huh?"

As we were waiting for the setup to happen in two different cities, I was bantering with the engineer Stephen, who has laid some tasty classic R&B grooves on us, and I joked about taking requests - "Brothers Johnson!" I said first, and he said he could do that. I decided to get eclectic and asked him if he had any Shuggie, and he was like "yeah, I'll put it on!" But then the interview started, so I got neither version of "Strawberry Letter 23". Alas.

According to the rest of the wovel posse, I did a good job. Yay me. I love radio. Oh crap, I forgot to toss a couple of bucks into the donation bucket while I was there. Boo me. :(

Details on the actual broadcast of the interview will be posted here as soon as I get them. Apparently that hour will be cooked down to 3-5 minutes. Oh well.

woot!, yay, writing
