I've heard a rumor that it's actually opening tomorrow (May 1st) at 8pm, to make the biggest weekend box office possible.
I did say "opening night", and I was serious about that, without quite understanding what that meant financially.
I am very broke right now (as in the idea of spending $9.75 on a movie is ridiculous) - I DO have movie passes, though, and I'd be willing to donate a movie pass to be used in the future if someone would be willing to pay my way, in if they wanted to go see this silly Marvel Comics movie with me. My passes won't work for IM, I imagine; on an event, opening-weekend movie like that, passes tend not to be accepted. And if you bought me a drink or two beforehand (definitely beforehand), I'd be ecstatic. (I might be able to swing my own PBR with the cash currently in my wallet; the drinks are non-negotiable.)
It's not actually that big of a deal, but I did state publicly "opening night"... and there were some murmurs of assent. My sense of nerd honor really wants me to do this.
I cannot go on Friday - there's this little thing called Battlestar Galactica that takes precedence over RDJr's absurdly ripped upper body and general air of sexually arousing cynical boredom. If I don't go tomorrow, I'd be more than willing to wait until I get paid, when there's a lot more notice, and I can have a much higher caliber of pre-blockbuster alcohol.
