Stifling silence reigned throughout the journey
like someone nasty died and we didn't know
to be happy or sad
Past the houses and expressway
not a word was exchanged
as the memory pressed heavily
down on us
and with stunning clarity
I understood that this marriage, this bond was long gone
long broken
So full of hurt and lies
that staying together is but a formality
a resignation to such a life
I was without emotion then
and I strive to be an ice maiden still
Detachment will be the foundation upon which
my wall will be built
Yet I once dreamt of playgrounds and cherries
Yet I once fancied stuffed toys and kisses

writings on the wall
