Last night at a going away party for a friend, I was chatting with a girl and it came up that we both have gone through recent breakups. Without hearing her story first, I mentioned some of the things Colin had said about his future and mine, his thoughts on family life, and reasons for wanting to breakup. She stared at me and said those were the exact same things her ex had told her. That kind of fear seems to be a common thread among guys in their late 20s. And it's sad because male friends of mine in their 30s (both married and divorced) have said that that's when you do find yourself, even if it doesn't work out. That sharing your life with somebody else isn't something to be afraid of, but to cherish and enjoy. I guess it just takes the extra 10 years to realize it. So, to those of you ladies who are with men in their late 20s, may they be wiser than their years to realize what an amazing catch they have, and good luck because 2008 is a nasty year for relationships.
