I just got back from hanging out in Little Tokyo (an area of downtown LA) today, and I'm in a very pleasant mood! It turns out that there were many events going on in support of the disaster in Japan, including musical entertainment, art auctions, and people drawing messages of encouragement--of course, fund raising was a major focus as well. I have to say, it was pretty awe-inspiring to see how many people came out, Japanese and non-Japanese alike, in support of these recent tragic events. Having heard some of the downright ignorant comments some people have made in regards to said events, I was beginning to feel a little discouraged--its nice to know that there are still so many positive and supportive people willing to help out others in a time of need like this. I have donated a little bit of money myself, but I wish that there was more I could do. Regardless, just seeing all those people together like that made me really happy, and I'm very glad I got to witness it!
(also tangentially related, but I can't not mention this--while there, I heard "Love You Only" playing in a donburi restaurant. It required every single ounce of self control in my body to not start air-drumming along like a dork >_>)
