Tony's California Misadventures

Aug 19, 2010 20:24

So yesterday was interesting. While going job hunting (and failing) in Little Tokyo, I came across Kinokuniya, a massive Japanese bookstore that also had CD's. While geeking out at the fact that they actually had artists I've heard of (they even had Boowy singles--do you have any idea how old those must have been?!) I finally settled on B'z "The Best ULTRA Pleasure" 2 disc compilation album. The decision ultimately came down between either getting that or a Gospellers album I'd never even heard of, but I suppose that can wait for another day.

The real discovery of the day however came in the form of this ridiculous place I found in the Little Tokyo Shopping Center. Now, let me ask you a question. When you hear the name "Strawberry Cones", what comes to mind? If you answered pizza--wait, why were you thinking that? Well...you were right. But that's kind of weird.

Anyways, I see this place thinking oh cool, sounds like icecream. But what I found was the most wonderful discovery of all. Apparently this place is a prominent Japanese pizza chain which just recently opened its first US location in Little Tokyo. They sported such interesting flavors such as Chicken Mocchi and Pizza Edamame--I ended up getting a "Four Seasons" pizza which included four different varieties, one for each quarter of the pizza. I honestly wish I took a picture before we destroyed it, it was so cool looking. As strange as it sounds...well, it was nothing short of amazing and I recommend it to anyone in the LA area. Its a bit out of the way for me to go all the time but I definitely see myself going back there again. I saved their brochure though, maybe I'll take a picture in a little bit.
