I realized today that I don't really have any gamer friends anymore.
When I was young my best friend was Laura Slimp and she'd come over and play SNES games with me. And then later on in life I had people like Brad and Jarret to multiplay with.
Couch co-op gaming is a hell of a lot of fun. Dare I say the most fun that the hobby has to offer. And there exist games on the market like Borderlands, Resident Evil 5, Scott Pilgrim, and other things that I'd really like to have a gaming buddy to play with. And I just lack one.
Jarret lives too far away. Brad is almost always too busy for me. The last time I saw Oscar was...Christ. I don't even know exactly but Nina and I were still dating so it was a long friggin' time ago.
Maybe this is why the industry is going towards online games. Those of us who grew up as gamers are moving on in life and don't have the time or capacity anymore to sit down with our buds after school and play Super Mario World. Makes sense; but it still bums me out. Because games like War for Cybertron that would be totally kickass playing with a friend in person are instead developed without that feature in favor of instead having online multiplayer. Boo, I say!
Oh well. Maybe someday I'll find someone to take up the honored mantle of Player Two.
