Thanks. This one was "easy" (very, very level), and I could tell how hard it was by my breathing near the end. At the start of the race, as on most runs, I was breathing in for three steps, out for five. Eventually it moves to 2/4, and settles for the majority of the run at 2/3. When it gets to 2/2 I know things are hard. I was at 2/2 for about the last half-mile. And my legs, oh gosh, they are very sore.
Your legs aren't sore now. TOMORROW, they'll be sore. Hee.
I won't run any race that isn't level. I'm a treadmill runner, I don't do hills. That's pretty easy to find around here, though... I don't know how you Pittsburgians do it.
There was a speedwalker ahead of me the first 1.5 miles of the race. I just couldn't quite catch her. Finally she started to flag while coming around the stadium at the end of the first "lap." I was practically beaming as I passed her.

My goal whenever I run a 5k is just to run the entire thing and there have been times when I haven't managed it, so I know how hard it is.
You rock!

With diligence and training, next time you can beat the stupid mascot into submission!

I remember a race in my second year of training, I think, when hordes of speedwalkers beat me.

The steely McBeam comment made me giggle. Also, who's Michelle Michaels?
