Steelers 5k

Sep 01, 2008 21:18

Well today I ran the Steelers ("Gatorade/Steelers") 5k.

I ran the whole way. Finished in 39:07 (which may make some of you say, "what? it's not possible to run that slowly," to which I say: bite me). Came in 1900th or so out of 2500 or so.

But I ran the whole way. I've never run that many minutes in my life; I've never run that many miles in my life.

It was really hard. I'm very sore and moving very slowly still. And I'm tired still. Going to bed very soon in fact.

The race ended on the warning track at Heinz Field, at the 50 yard line. I picked up speed as I entered. We were on the jumbotron. Steely McBeam high-fived me. I didn't have the presence of mind to tackle him and beat him into unconsciousness.

Random observation from greenlion before the race, on looking at the local DJ who was doing some pre-race warmup stuff: "Is that Michelle Michaels? I didn't think she would be that... hot."

I'll probably sign up for the 5k portion of the Pittsburgh Great Race later this month. It's mostly all downhill, I tell myself. And if I get too tired it looks like I can hurl myself to my own death over the railing of the Boulevard of the Allies. So I got that going for me. Which is nice.
