College?

I went to visit the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) last week. It was my first ever visit to a college campus and I guess it was okay. UIC is my fist choice because it's pretty affordable compared to other universities, and it's really close to home. I like the fact that it's downtown so I won't need to worry about a car, or having enough to do.

The only thing that I would say I didn't like about it was that the campus is run down and it's pretty much entirely concrete, barely any green on the entire campus. I understand it being old and run down, I mean my dad went to the same college in the 1970's so I wasn't exactly expecting a shiny, fantastic place or anything, it's just that you could actually smell the old in some of the buildings.

But I'm really relieved too because afterwards my mom told me that looking over all of the financial stuff and talking to some reps or whatever, she said that I most likely won't need to start off at community college, which means staying at home for another year or two. So that's like totally awesome.

If anyone knows anything more about the "college search" process you should tell me things that make it easier, and things I should keep in mind. Please? All of this is kind of really overwhelming and my mom didn't go to college so I don't really have anyone with first hand experience who can tell me about all of this. Now I still have a whole more year of high school on top of it, so this should be a fun time.
