The Ghost of Dennis Slade

Jan 19, 2010 23:18

My colleague Tony felt inspired enough to write this about me,
three months after I left our company Money-Media.
I'm touched.

The Ghost of Dennis Slade

I entered Money-Media's kitchen,
And saw on counter laid
The box of dead `lectronic devices.
They whispered and they prayed,
"Throw not our brethren in trash heaps,
With meat and filth displayed,
Lest you find your-self being haunted
By the ghost of Dennis Slade."

Lingered still in kitchen drinking,
Hot chocolate, I delayed,
Then turned to wash the empty mug.
But the sink-soap me forbade.
"Fill not the rivers with fats and oils,
The seas with soap’s brigade,
Unless you fancy being haunted
By the ghost of Dennis Slade."

And so I sound this warning
As best you know I can,
To remind you all, that those he’s gone,
We’ve still remnants of this man.

His words and deeds are legends here,
They `mind us to be green.
And every now and then a glimpse
Of Dennis' ghost is seen…
