Random thoughts on my one night in Atlanta.
(Sponsored by AirTran, my new favorite sucky airline.)
- Having a regular BART-style train going directly from the airport to downtown is a major advantage for any big city. I love Atlanta just for having this.
- Outwrite Bookstore and Coffeehouse is the love child of Kramer's Afterwords and the late, great Big Cup cafe, raised by auntie Rainbows and Triangles. If you're an anti-bar rat like myself, this is simply THE best place to survey the queer community in Hotlanta - and I'm sooooo glad I figured that out early in the evening.
- Crazy friendly people here. That combined with sites I need to see (like the King Center, and the Morehouse and Spelman campuses) mean that Atlanta has jumped to the top of my weekend getaways list.
- Now that I've spent an entire evening there I have to ask: where are all the Georgia southern drawls I was expecting? Geez, I mind's well be back in Chelsea. :-)
