Anyway, first and most important...Robert Michael Hale was born at 8:46 in the a.m. December 4, 2004. He weighed 8 lbs. 11 oz. and was 21 inches long. Welcome to the world, baby boy! Sara, of course he's adorable, he's related to us. Thanks for letting me know.... Mom called me and told me that he was born, but I didn't know the particulars and it's still good to hear it from the four-time aunt! (For those of you not in the know, Sara is my cousin and Robert is my fourth second cousin.... and that probably made no sense whatsoever.)
Second, and not nearly as important: I'll be home in less than two weeks. Life is good. I love Rome and I'm going to miss it horrendously, not to mention the people that I've met, but it's time to come back.
I have no idea where I'm living next semester, which is a source of some considerable stress and/or worry, but I'll deal with that when I come to it. It's almost finals, and I've started packing.
Erin and I went to the Christmas market in Piazza Navona yesterday. It was a wonderland.... candy and toys stalls as far as the eye could see. Everyone's getting ready for "La Befana", on January the sixth; the best way to describe it is that "La Befana" is kind of like the Easter Bunny. She runs around passing out treats to kids, and there are huge parties for children all over the city.
It seems kind of odd to talk about things that will happen here that I wont be able to see. I love the pace of life here, the way Italians don't live to work; they work to live. It doesn't feel like it's almost time to go. Some days it seems like I've been here for decades, and others like I just got here yesterday. I hate that feeling, if I was going to be perfectly honest with you.
In any case, now is the time for all responsible English majors to do some research.... more updates later!
