An Update.... Merry early Christmas!

Hey all...

The weekend before last we went to Florence (beautiful). Last weekend was Pisa, Assisi, and Perugia. Perugia is known for its chocolate. Assisi was wonderful.... I got to see Saint Francis's tunic, sandals, and cord.

The show went really well (sorry I haven't written before now, I've been massively busy). Apart from me putting my skirt on the wrong way for the final number (which was complete with fishnets and a leotard, not to mention a top hat and cane) everything went very well.

I went out with the guy once. He's very nice, as I said, but he's just not my type. I will never again, for the rest of my life, settle for less. We still talk, but there's just no chemistry there.

Yesterday I spent what could possibly be termed as the most interesting three hours of my life. I locked myself out of my apartment. I was sitting there on my steps, thinking, when suddenly the largest black cat I've ever seen in my life ran past me. It was followed by an older woman, who gestured toward him, and I walked after the cat very slowly (if you run after them, it freaks them out). I did what I normally do with my cat when he "escapes" from the house: clucked my tongue, got down low, and smiled for all I was worth. I managed to grab the animal and hauled him downstairs. The woman insisted on having me come inside her house. Anna (as I soon learned her name) lives alone with Nero, her cat. She speaks no English, and my Italian isn't good enough to carry on a complicated conversation. I know the basics, but that's about it. So, I ended up with a glass of Coca-Cola, a large black cat in my lap, and staring at an Australian guy named Geoffery who lives in my building and was translating for me. When Erin came back, she let me into the apartment, and we hung out for a while. Anna invited us for dinner, and at the end of all that Erin and I invited Geoffrey and his brother Benjy to go to Flakes (a local pub) with us tomorrow night.

My mom told me that this weekend Caroline and Connor put up the advent calender. Caroline got really excited because she thought that I was coming home now, and her mom told her that I would be home in a few weeks. She said, "But it's Cwistmas!"

Ask me if that didn't totally slay me.

I'm really looking forward to coming home. Rome has been great, but I miss everyone and it's time to come back.

And also, am I moron for REALLY looking forward to "The Phantom of the Opera" featuring one of the most underused young actresses in Hollywood (Emmy Rossum, who was marvelous in "Songcatcher")?
