Dated: Weeks ago- when Ohtori came back to Oshitari's house from hiding at his parent's house.
Summary: Ohtori talks to Oshitari and tries to get his place back at the house and agrees to be more active in the HFC.

Choutarou sighed as he stepped up to the gate outside the Oshtari compound, he knew running away was not the best idea- but at the moment it had seemed better than showing everyone just how hurt and angry he was that everyone kept something so important from him. Maybe if he knew then what he knew now, he would have been able to sleep and sort things out on his own. But now it was time to try and sort some things out. Pausing at the gate, he ran through the security routine and entered, walking up the long drive. Once he reached the door, even though at one point this was home, he rung the bell instead and waited.

He chose to show up in the late afternoon. The odds of Ryou answering or being fully awake were slim to none. That was probably for the better, he sighed. Depending on how things went here, he would either be leaving for good- and moving to the Brotherhood institute again if they would take him- or he would be home and just have to make it clear that secrecy only hurts people in the long run. It took a while to get to the door, but he wasn't in a huge rush anyway. He hoped things would go well and he wouldn't have to pack up his last things and leave. Deep down, he wanted to stay with Ryou- but not as some convenient boyfriend he wanted to be involved in his life.

Perhaps the panic was unnecessary- but in some parts of their relationship it felt overly commited and in others he felt like he was some stranger in their lives. Was a little clarity so much to ask for?

Perfectly aware of who was at the door--Akira's security measures were top-notch--Yuushi sat up in the chair at his desk and quickly went through the motions of shutting down his computer. One of the maids would get the door. He usually only kept his cook on hand in the house since Ryou-kun had grown quite fond of her. The rest of his servants were sent away at nightfall.

Easily and without thought, he located the invisble connection his mind had to the younger mutant and triggered it.

Come in, Ohtori-kun. Welcome back. I will be downstairs momentarily, so make yourself comfortable.

Letting the audial illusion fade, as he couldn't hear the response anyways, he slipped the laptop closed and made his way down to Ohtori.

He shivered as he heard the familiar voice. Sometimes he really hated hearing someone he couldn't see. He smiled and nodded, aware he was probably seen anway. He entered the main room, quietly standing in place with his bag at his feet and waiting as calmly as he could for Oshitari to meet with him.

The quickest way down was to use the network of secret passages built into the house. Yuushi was the only one who knew every single one of them, even though he'd shown a majority of them to his lovers.

Pressing a small panel in his office, the entrance was revealed, and he slipped through it, navigating down to the main floor, quietly exiting to the back and right of Ohtori. Making sure the passage was shut, he moved to the other mutant's side and touched his shoulder.

"Ohtori-kun. It's good to have you back."

There were times he thanked every god he could name for learning to control his powers over the last several years, and this was one of them. He may not have shocked the older male for surprising him, but he certainly attempted to jump out of his skin. He should have known it was Oshitari, and he almost wanted to warn him about sneaking up on the partially deaf, but instead offered a weak sort of smile, much like the one he had given when he heard 'welcome home'.

"Thanks for having me back, Oshitari-san...is everything still- alright?" He'd hoped his former housemates had kept their word and kept Ryou from getting into too much trouble in his absense.

With no regret for startling the younger mutant, Yuushi surprised them both by giving Ohtori a tight hug before stepping back and coughing politely to cover the awkwardness. No matter how many times he did that, it still struck him strange that his body moved of its own accord just based on memories that weren't his own.

It was downright infuriating at times.

"Yes...well...Ryou hasn't managed to burn the house down yet", he said flippantly, then switched tactics when he saw the other's face. He should remember that humor wasn't the best tactic when dealing with Ohtori--the young man didn't always understand he was dealing with sarcasm or humor at times.

"He's fine, Ohtori-kun. We've been taking good care of him. I even scheduled him a sort of spa day just to relax him enough that he isn't moulting from worry." As he spoke, he led the other into the parlor and shut the door behind them so they weren't disturbed. Once he had Ohtori away from any curious ears that might be around, he slid off his glasses and shot the other mutant a serious look.

"Have you had enough time to think, my friend? Because I would like to say that running away and leaving us to deal with Shishido-kun's bouts of anxiety and depression was unpleasant at best. The maids are becoming tired of cleaning up stray feathers around the house." To soften his words, he gave Ohtori the barest of smiles, but nothing he said was untrue in the slightest.

Once settled into the parlor, the taller of tha pair bit down on his lower lip and sighed. He didn't mind the hugs, or the comments on spas needed for a moulting boyfriend, but being an inconvenience for everyone...

"I stirred up a lot of trouble for everyone being selfish and stupid, Oshitari-sempai...you know that was never my intention." He hoped, but opted to avoid direct eye contact with his friend/leader.

"I do plan to talk to him later. I want to end this, one way or the other..."

"That sounds as if it could end badly", Yuushi commented, a finger gently moving Ohtori's chin over until the younger mutant was once again looking at him. Or at least facing him. "You are always forgiven selfishness in this house, Ohtori-kun. We would not want to be hypocrites now, the rest of us who live here." He smiled a little at that. No one would ever accuse him of being unselfish, of that he was certain.

"Now...I know most of the factors in this problem. What are the ones most troubling to you, my friend? Would it help in any way to know that you were not cheated on, as far as I am concerned? I doubt Ryou would allow anyone but you to touch him inappropriately."

He blushed a bit at the soft touch, making him look at his leader and friend again. He knew the bespectacled boy was right, it was a life of excess in parts of the house, and in relationships. It was still hard to accept.

"I hate that he kept secrets from me. I know he wanted to protect me, I don't want a father. I want my boyfriend back..." Almost on instinct, he decided to just be honest. "I think he's seeing Fuji-san. He swears he only loves me, but then why is he out at night with him, or always agreeing to do things with him, but he never tells me what he was up to?" He was trying hard not to let his eyes water again, it had taken a long time to even be able to think about it, much less say it without dissolving to a sobbing mess. "I hate that bastard- it's like he's always been trying to just push me."

Did Ohtori not know that the Fuji Shishido had been seeing lately wasn't the Fuji of their own world? Looking down at the miserable teen, Yuushi thought that hypothesis was highly likely, knowing how Shishido tended to gloss over details when it came to protecting his 'mate'.

Moving to sit beside him, Yuushi pulled Ohtori back and slipped what he assumed would be a comforting arm over the other's shoulders. "I think I can answer that for you. Most of it is my right to tell you, and since Ryou seems to be unable to stop protecting you from the truth...Your boyfriend has accepted Fuji's advances, but not in the way you think." He went on to explain the strange switch between the Fuji they knew and the one that existed for them now, the history he seemed to have with both Shishido and Oshitari himself, and after swearing Ohtori to the utmost secrecy, revealed Shishido's place in the Hellfire Club, on both sides of the board.

"...yeah- I can see why he wouldn't tell me- makes sense too..." He bit his lower lip and leaned closer to Yuushi, occasionally needing the comfort of others, especially with his wolrd completely upsed down. "Why does he keep protecting me, Oshitari-san? Am I really that weak to everyone?"

Yuushi considered that for a moment. Was Ohtori generally viewed as weak? His power certainly wasn't, and one could argue that he had strong opinions and a code of ethics that in this day and age practically bordered on saintly.

Which, of course, could also be why others would see him as weak. But would Shishido? Is that truly why he protected him? Yuushi knew very well that wasn't the case at all.

"I doubt it has anything to do with any imagined weakness you think you have", he said seriously. "It has to do with how precious you are to Ryou. Aside from his birdlike instincts, the primal function of any mammal when it comes to their mate is to protect them. Of course Ryou would take it one step further and protect you from the things he doesn't want you involved in, or in danger because, regardless of what he himself does."

"But it's so stupid." He shot a worn look at the older male and shook his head. "What sort of idiot wouldn't be able to tell their boyfriend-" he showed the ring- "or...whatever I am to him now- couldn't tell them about their lives. I'm bound to find out these things anyway...why can't he just accept that his decisions impact my life too?"

"Why does Ryou do anything?" Yuushi nearly chuckled, but a flippant answer wasn't going to solve anything. And he wanted Ohtori back under his roof. Shishido was miserable, and too difficult to even talk to in the state he was in now. And that disturbed him, as well as interfered with his plans. He had come to realize just how much he'd become accustomed to having discussions with the avian mutant and his lover.

So, in an effort to help bridge the gap where Shishido had begun to burn the bridge itself, he considered, and then patted Ohtori's shoulder, deciding to impart a few intimate details he would normally not share.

"Ohtori-kun...love makes you stupid. Very stupid. Just having someone so precious to you will make you do very stupid and even dangerous things just to protect them, or find them. I've almost lost Akira and Koujirou several times...When Akira went missing, I put a gun to my father's face for information while Koujirou took out his security. When Koujirou was taken from us, I was convinced Hanamura had him, and if Akira hadn't stopped me, I would have gone to Ryuhana to attempt to kill her. When I would wake up from nightmares after...well, I can't remember what exactly, but I recall waking up from nightmares, Akira would leave and throw daggers into the trees. Even now, we would like to castrate Niou for putting Ryou-kun into a panic, because we care about him and wish to protect him. Perhaps Ryou's stupidity runs a little deeper than that, but his bond to you may just be that deep as well. Would you throw that away over a lack of communication? Will you leave him to Fuji? Ryou will probably always do stupid things in his life, and make decisions without you, until you put your foot down, swallow your insecurity and make him listen."

"...Oshitari-san-" He had no idea about some of the problems, he knew almost everyone that was under the roof with them had some problems in the past, that was part of why the bonded so well. Even if he couldn't remember a lot of things, he knew there was something else that made them all stand together.

"I- I don't want to lose him- but I don't know how I can stop him." He was no flake, but he had such a hard time denying Ryou anything. "I don't know where to start..."

Yuushi was quiet for a while. This was a problem he'd never had personally. Despite a couple of relationship issues Akira and Koujirou had talked him through--well, tied him down and forced him to understand--they had always communicated well, and rarely kept secrets from one another. They always traveled the same path.

Which reminded him that Shishido and Ohtori were now on very different paths. Ohtori's ambitions were to become a doctor, and do everything to help mutants, and quite obviously to live a quiet, normal life with his lover. His path was still the same as it had been since he came here.

It was Shishido's path that had veered away from it, and for that he knew he himself was at least partly responsible. Shishido had willingly become involved in his shadowy world of the Hellfire Club. And that had led him to Fuji, and whatever Fuji was planning to do. All this secrecy, and the danger it posed if Ohtori became trapped in the middle of it. It was no wonder Shishido had kept even his strange dreams a secret from his insecure lover. With as deeply as the other mutant was involved in Oshitari's 'game' with Fuji, it would be hard to explain, or even convince Ohtori that these memories Shishido had of his other self wouldn't be acted on eventually.

And Shishido couldn't exactly walk away from them right now. Nor, Oshitari thought, that he would. So the answer was simple.

"I believe you have to decide if you want to follow him, Ohtori-kun. You must decide if you want to remain by his side and walk towards an uncertain future together, or walk alone towards your own that you've been working for."

"I'd give up everything for him." THere wasn't even the need to think about that answer, yes, he had his dreams as 'noble' as they could be, but without his lover at his side, he would never make it anyway. "I'll do whatever it takes- even if it does mean dealing with Fuji-san."

"If you're willing to give up everything for Ryou, I doubt Fuji ever had a chance to begin with", was Yuushi's only comment to that. Such dedication to one another...it was good to see that Ohtori would be able to be swayed back, and that things eventually would be able to work out. So long as Shishido didn't do anything else foolish before then.

"Just remember that the next time you are beating the idea of communication into Ryou's stubborn head", he smirked, ruffling Ohtori's hair like he would Ryou-kun's on a whim. "Now then...shall we have some tea?"

"Tea?" He blinked questioningly through his mussed silver hair and offered a small smile and a nod. "I haven't had tea in a long time actually. Thank you."

There were other matters to tend to, "I was hoping I could be more involved...with what is going on." He knew he could be a great asset with his heart and mind in the right place. "No point in letting Ryou be the only one in the relationship that will fight for the cause, ne?"

"Then tea it is", Yuushi replied and sent a silent order to the cook through his powers. Really, sometimes his power could be more handy than being an telepathic. He didn't have to deal with anyone else's inane thoughts to get things done.

Ohtori's request, however, made him momentarily rescind that thought. "Are you certain, Ohtori-kun? I realize you're not a coward, but what we are doing is not really a game..." For anyone else but himself and Fuji, that was. "And Ryou has joined Fuji's side of the board. Are you looking to join him there?"

"I'm positive, Oshitari-san." The taller of the pair offered a serious smile, the sort that could almost be every bit as unnerving as Blackguard's had been. "And I know fully well that it isn't a game." He looked up at the question about Fuji's side and shook his head slowly. "My loyalties are to you and Ryou. I can't honestly give Fuji my all."

That was all Yuushi needed to hear. Having Ohtori on his side would give him more leverage with Ryou as well. Not that he doubted Shishido's loyalty...he just didn't trust Fuji in the slightest. He smiled. "I'm sure we'll find something for you then, Ohtori-kun, if you insist..."

"Thank you, Oshitari-san... I hope my talk with Ryou will go half as well." He beamed a brilliant smile to his leader and grabbed his hand affectionately. "And anything you need. You can consider it as good as done."
