As far as birthdays went, Ann had to admit this was probably going to be one of the better ones she'd had since her father had died. It didn't matter that she wasn't going to have a big bash, or anything like that. What mattered most was that she wasn't going to be alone on her birthday anymore.
She put some music on and finished brewing some tea, her thoughts drifting to many years ago.
"Happy Birthday, Ann-chan!" Her father's deep voice rumbled with joy as he pulled out something big, and rather cello-shaped.
"Papa!!! Oh my god! Thank you!!!! A brand new cello, just for me!!!" a now 7-year old Ann was literally bouncing with excitement.
Even now, it brought a smile to her lips just thinking about it.
