He wished he could say it was because life had been busy. It hadn't, not really. But he still hadn't taken his time to actually spend time with Taka, Taka who had been by his side for so long during his hospital stay and then just somehow faded out from his life... And Fuji had barely noticed. He hated himself for it, but if you never took the first step yourself, you couldn't expect things to go anywhere. So here he was, outside Taka's room. And maybe this was a bad idea, but... He knocked on the door. He didn't call out however, if just in case Taka didn't want to see him, and would pretend not to be there if he heard it was Fuji by the door.

Taka wasn't sure how the Valentine's Day blind date event would go, but hopefully it would be a good way to get Oishi and Eiji to stop being miserable and upset with themselves for their feelings. He didn't feel bad that he hadn't admitted that Niou was his partner in crime with this but….he knew some people didn't trust the other boy, and he was very trustworthy in the eyes of other people. Sighing, he thought about logging in to see if he'd gotten any takers, when there was a knock at the door. Yagyuu wasn't home, and he had a key, so he figured he had a guest. Standing, he moved to the door and opened it with a smile. "Ah…Fuji." He said, somewhat surprised.

"Hello there~" Fuji put on his best smile and blinked curiously at Taka. "I saw the Valentine's add~ Impressive work there."

After a moment, he remembered his manors. "Hi. Won't you come in?" He asked, stepping back to allow the other in. "Oh? Thanks. I just thought it would be fun...."

"It's an awesome idea, really." Fuji beamed and stepped inside. "I hope there are a lot of people signing up?"

"Thanks..." He felt a little bad for taking all the credit but he knew he had to, for now at least. Shutting the door after the other, he shrugged. "Have a seat wherever you want, on my side. I'm not sure yet. I haven't looked..."

Fuji sat down on Taka's bed and wondered absentmindedly if he should have brought a small gift or something, but then decided that it might seem odd. Really odd. "Okay. Uhm... How have you been lately?"

Taka grabbed his computer desk chair and yanked it to the middle of the room before plopping down on it, and smiled. "Mmm. I hope at least two people sign up! Otherwise, they'll be single dates." He said, chuckling softly. "I've been alright. Kinda been a hermit. Lot of stuff on my mind." He admitted. "How about you? Glad Yuuta is here, right?"

He nodded and smiled warmly. "Well, I'd like it even more if I knew he had a wonderful time here, but... I actually haven't talked with him all that much." Or anyone else for that matter, or so it seemed lately.

"I'm sure he is...Well, Yuuta isn't much of a talker. I've met him a couple times. Played tennis once, but...never got much out of him." He said, grinning easily.

Fuji's eyes widened slightly. "You've played tennis with him? That's more than I have~" He smiled. "That's sweet. Was it a good game?"

"I did. I was out for some exercise, and I caught him at the stairs, so we played a friendly game. It was a very good game." Taka replied with a nod. "Would you like some water, or a soda?" He asked, nodding toward his mini fridge under his desk.

"Water would be nice, please." Fuji pulled up his legs underneath him and studied Taka thoughtfully. "Nee... Taka-san?"

Taka stood and moved to the mini fridge to grab him a water. He had a half open water already, so he snagged his on the way to give the other the unopened one. Sitting back down, he blinked. "Yes, Fuji?"

Fuji accepted the water and tossed the bottle between his hands. "Well... Have I been rude or something? Or... Have I made you sad in any way?"

Taka was floored by the other's question. "Why would you think that, Fuji?" Was he so involved with trying to try and forget his heart, that....he hurt the other?

"I don't know..." Fuji's smile was slightly strained, but still warm. "I haven't been good at keeping in touch, I know that... But I've hardly seen you around either." He winked, remembering Taka's previous words. "All hermit like and everything~"

"I'm sorry, Fuji..." He said, drooping his head some. He didn't mean to push himself so far away from the other that Fuji was hurt by it. "I've just been so lost in my own mind, I guess, that I didn't notice I was neglecting you. I'm really sorry, Fuji." Taka was sincere in his apology.

"I'm sorry too..." Fuji frowned, opening the water bottle. "But I... I need you to tell me if it's something I've done. Because if it is, I want to apologize."

"Don't worry, Fuji. You did nothing. I've just been sort of in a rut...Believe me, you've been nothing but the best of friends." He reassured the other, while he scolded himself.

"I can't have been much of a friend though, if I didn't see that you were in a rut, or better yet, tried to help you out of it," the blonde pointed out calmly, sucking thoughtfully on the water bottle.

Chuckling, he shook his head. "Naw, you've been a very good friend. It's not a rut, per se... I dunno how to explain it. I've just been feeling like thinking more. Is....there anything wrong, Fuji?" He asked, concerned. He wasn't sure why the other was suddenly so interested in this...

Fuji shook his head. "I... don't know. Maybe? I... feel like I'm slipping away from people. Maybe I'm being a bit of a hermit myself or something, I don't know. I mean, I share my room with Tezuka, but we hardly ever talk... Not about things that matter." I guess I'm just feeling lonely, he wanted to add, but he kept quiet.

Taka nodded. "I can understand that. You know, while I've been actively alone, but I do enjoy the company that finds me. I'm sorry that I haven't been trying to be active in seeing how you were doing lately." Taka said, giving him a sad sort of smile.

"Well, now we can make up for it at least," Fuji smiled, taking a gulp of the water. "Ah, that was good~ Thanks, Taka-san~ ♥"

"Yes, we can, Fuji." He agreed, with a beam. "I'll try not to neglect you again." He teased, chuckling.

"Goodie~" Fuji got to his feet, beaming as well. "Shall we go have a look if someone signed up?" He nodded towards the computer.

Blinking, Taka looked toward the computer. "Ah, I guess." Scooting toward the desk, he woke his computer up from sleep mode, and started to log in. Than, a thought occurred, and he looked over at Fuji. "nosy! You aren't supposed to know who signed up! Go back and sit on the bed...and I'll tell you if I have any willing people, and how many." He compromised.

Aw, phooey. Fuji shot a quick pout in Taka's direction, but behaved for once and did as he was told. He made himself comfortable and waited.

Chuckling, he logged in, and saw that he had six people...including Fuji. He shook his head, and shut his window, before turning toward the other. "There are six. Including you."

"So few?" This time the pout was real. "People are boring... But I guess there are many couples around camp, nee? You never thought of hooking up with someone, Taka-san?"

"Actually, it was eight." He said, chuckling. "And don't worry, I only put it up last night! not even 24 hours ago." Than, Taka's eyes bugged out, and blushed. "Eh? What brought that up?"

Fuji chuckled. "Oh. And oh... Well, the whole blind dating deal, I guess? I'm curious~ And I'd love for you to find someone, you know." Completely oblivious he was, yes.

"Ah..." He tried to keep himself calm. "Well, truthfully...Can you keep a secret?"

Fuji smiled. "Of course."

"This is all an elaborate plan to get two friends together." He admitted. "But I won't tell you who~"

Fuji blinked and then nodded. "Oh, sounds exciting~ But you've made me curious now, you know~"

He couldn't help but chuckle as he tried to keep his cool and not let the other know how much his heart was killing him. "I'm sure you are~ But! I shouldn't be telling, so that's all you get!"

Hopping to his feet, Fuji walked over to Taka and flicked his nose gently. "Meanie~ Well, I guess that means no way I'm backing out of this, nee?"

Taka flinched as he was flicked on his nose. "Hey! Fuji, don't be a pill!" He scolded playfully, before cocking his head as he rubbed his abused nose. "What do you mean? Why would you back out anyway? You were the first one to sign up!"

He laughed and jumped away from Taka's immediate reach, then sighed, offering a self conscious smile. "Well. I just... Had second thoughts. Wondered if I was cut out to be good company for a blind date like that, and all. But I think I will manage~"

"You can always brighten up a room, Fuji. I'm sure you'll be wonderful company for anyone~" Taka murmured, smiling at the younger boy.

"I hope so~" For some reason he flushed. "Did I brighten up your room?" And maybe he should just shut up before things got awkward here. Really now.

"You will be." He said confidently, before he ducked his head to hide his pink cheeks. "Of course you do, Fuji." He admitted. But that sounded...horribly mushy so, he added "You are one of my best friends, after all."

"And you're mine." He smiled warmly, leaning in for a quick hug. "I'm glad we worked things out, because I've missed you. I've just been an idiot. I need to tackle some homework now, but I'll see you around, right?"

He wished he could hear those words under a different meaning, but Taka knew it was impossible. Now was the time to support his friend as a friend and nothing else. Patting the other's back quickly, he let go, and smiled. "I'm here to stay, didn't I tell you? I just...still thought you needed space, I guess." Taka nodded. "True. I need to tackle math. Have a good night, alright?"

"You too~" Something was still a tiny bit off, but Fuji couldn't put is finger on it for the life of him. Instead he waved and made it to the door, stopping just before he exited the room. "Sweet dreams." And then he was gone.

Shutting the door, Taka leaned against it for a moment and sighed. Fujiko-chan.... Goodbye.
