Ryoma reached out for a towel and dried his face. After the scene out at the courts, he had spent at least fifteen minutes in the bathroom, just trying to calm himself down and coupled it with a lot of splashes of cold water in the face. Finally he felt more or less human again and he ventured outside, walking over to his boyfriend. "Sorry I locked you out, Yamabuki."

"Nothing to be sorry about." Dan had spent most of the time fretting, more or less. Now that Ryoma returned he really just wanted to cling to him and make sure everything was all right but wasn't yet sure if that would be a good idea. "...You okay?"

"Nah." He shrugged. "Will be. But damn I wish I could have a grape ponta right now!" He scowled. "The freaking withdrawal's killing me." He started to pace back and forth, shaking his head. "I don't know... Oishi-senpai's making such a big deal out of this and aniki doesn't know how to keep his mouth shut and I... I apparently don't know that either and it fucking annoys me...!"

"...Ryoma." Dan looked at him seriously. "I really hate to say this right now, but... just ignoring an issue won't make it disappear, you know." He sighed. "I don't approve of what they did since it got you so upset, but... I'm sure they're just concerned." Hell, he was concerned and he didn't even know anything but the most vaguest of hints.

"Well, maybe not, but they're not focusing on what's important, okay? It's just..." He shook his fists in frustration. Just... What? He wasn't sure.

"What is important, then?" Dan walked closer, setting a hand on Ryoma's shoulder.

"You. This. Now. The future." Ryoma made a small face. "Not bothering with shit that's not gonna have any impact on our lives or anything, you know?"

"Right..." Despite the warm feeling that filled him at Ryoma's first words, Dan couldn't help but frown. "Ryoma, love... what exactly did they do?" Again, he knew very little beyond what he'd been able to conclude.

"They just talked about shit." Ryoma shrugged. "Oyaji and crap."

"What shit?" asked Dan quietly. "It couldn't have been just anything, to have you so upset..."

"Well... I don't know all of it, but..." Ryoma made a small face. "You know, what we talked about before?"

"About your father? Yeah..." Dan bit his lower lip. He really didn't like where this was going...

"Well, Oishi-senpai pushed it and I guess he got worried so he went and talked to aniki."

"So they were just worried," Dan pointed out. "They weren't trying to make you upset." After a pause, he added, "If they had been, I would have to hurt them both." He wasn't joking.

Boy wonder shrugged and then nodded. "Yeah, I know. But still. I can handle this shit myself, you know?" Really now, Ryoma.

"You pretty much broke down out there, Ryoma." Dan stepped closer, reaching his arms around his boyfriend. "And... you don't have to be in it all by yourself."

Well... That he couldn't explain. Not without admitting that maybe there was a problem that ought to be addressed here. Ryoma frowned and stared down at the ground. "Well... You know. It's just... Dad's kinda strict and all but then he goes all stupid and I never know what's gonna tick him off. It's getting kinda tiresome." He set his jaw stubbornly. "It's fine though. As long as I beat him eventually. That'll show him."

"What's stopping me?" Dan raised his eyebrows. "I know I'm not the biggest of men, but I'll be damned if I let him hurt you... again."

He actually found himself blushing, and realized with a pang that it actually felt good to have someone who stuck by your side like this, no matter what. "Thanks... But you know... The tabloids would skin you alive."

"You think I'd care?" He hugged Ryoma closer. "I've already been on more than enough tabloids for something I was the victim in; I could just as well give them some reason. And besides... you're what's important."

Some odd part of him didn't want his father to be sent off to jail for child abuse. Not before he had beaten him fair and square in a match. Which probably was quite twisted when you thought about it, but then again, Ryoma had never once prided himself in being normal. That was at least one of the reasons he didn't want to bother with the subject. The other was... "I don't want you to get shit for this, you know."

"That goes both ways, love," Dan said softly. "I don't want to see you hurt."

He was very close to claiming that he was fine, then he caught himself and instead shrugged. "Mm," was all he could think of saying at this point. He really appreciated that Dan was so discrete about it, that he didn't press on for answers, because Ryoma feared that should Dan ask for details at this point... He would get answers. And Ryoma wasn't sure he was mentally ready to deliver them just yet.

"Some day, we're going to talk about it, you know," Dan murmured. "Some day when you're more... together." He really didn't want to risk Ryoma having another breakdown like that.

He nodded. For now it was good enough to hold onto Dan and just focus on this very moment.

Dan held him close, not knowing what else to do and desperately hoping it would be enough.
