Comments: No, srsly, did Yukimura shrink?
Yukimura grabbed his tennis bag from the corner of the room, checking to make sure everything was in order (or as ordered as it could be, considering the large amounts of potted plants and bonsai on his side of the room) before walking out and locking the door behind him. He'd missed seeing Renji while he was at camp and he was glad to have a chance to catch up with his other best friend. Sanada was fun to play with and all but it wasn't the same, since he didn't talk all that much. Walking down the hallway to the stairs, he wondered if his friend had changed much over the time they'd been apart. It didn't sound like it, from what he'd observed on the other boy's journal, but you never knew. Finally getting out of the dorm building, he jogged towards the tennis courts, looking around to see if his friend was already there.
Yanagi had not needed to check to make sure his room was in order, as he had just arrived at camp and he had not had time to make a mess yet. So Yanagi had arrived at the tennis courts approximately 45.3 seconds before Yukimura. Yanagi would have gotten there sooner, except that he was still a little unsure about the layout. Not much, but he was sure to double check the doors that he walked through. The last thing Yanagi wished for was to get lost. The camp was fairly straightforward though.
Seeing Seiichi jog his way Yanagi lifted an arm to wave. There was no one else on the courts at the moment, so he should have made a rather tall and obvious obstruction to green turf and chain link fences. "Seiichi."
Yukimura looked good, which lifted a little worry from Yanagi's shoulders. Not that he had been worried about Yukimura, per se, but it was good to see him doing well.
Spotting Renji, Yukimura waved back and jogged into the courts, smiling happily, "It's good to see you again," he said, giving his best friend a hug. He was a very touchy person, and the hug was more of a hello than anything else. He did have a boyfriend after all. Releasing the other boy after a while, he stepped back so he wasn't looking up to see Renji's face, "You were worried about me weren't you," he accused, still smiling. He like to think he could read his best friend pretty well, and that one had been pretty obvious. He didn't mind, it was mostly amusing, seeing as Renji knew him rather well.
Yanagi hugged Yukimura back, enjoying the casual closeness. Yanagi might be slightly more touchy than Yukimura, note his casual beating of Kirihara, but such off hand affection was really only readily available for Sanada or Yukimura. Sanada, of course, was difficult to hug. "Worried about you, Seiichi?" Yanagi smiled slightly and shrugged. "Would I do something like that?"
The answer was, of course, yes. "You look good." Yanagi gave Yukimura an appraising look, cataloguing everything.
"Of course you would," Yukimura answered, looking Renji over as well, "Did you grow?" he asked, a tiny frown in his voice. Setting his tennis bag down on the fence for a moment, he adjusted his wrist weight slightly. His best friend was tall enough already, he didn't need to get any bigger. Most of the time he didn't mind being short, but with his two best friends it was rather hard not to notice the difference in height.
Yanagi debated avoiding the question, but decided against it in favor of teasing. "Unless you shrunk, Seiichi, I'm afraid I have." Yanagi measured Yukimura's height against his own and tsked. "Perhaps I grew and you shrank."
Noting Yukimura's adjustment Yanagi lifted Yukimura's hand to check the weight. "Ah, is that how much you're wearing now?"
Pouting slightly, Yukimura nodded, "Yeah, I haven't adjusted the weight too much since I left for camp. I think they've only gone up five or six pounds since I left, and that was almost half a year ago," jeez had it really been that long? No wonder he missed Renji, he'd only visited home once or twice since he left, "And I did not shrink," reaching up, he poked the other boy in the cheek, "You're just tall."
Only Yukimura could casually brush off 'five or six pounds' of extra weight. "If you don't know Seiichi, you haven't been recording it properly." Which was dangerous, and could lead to possible injury. "I'm glad you haven't adjusted it much then."
Yanagi laughed when Yukimura poked his cheek. "Are you sure? I believe there are specialty shoes we can look into, Seiichi, just so you don't lose another inch." Ah, Yanagi had missed this. While most of the world was smaller than he was it was rare for Yanagi to tease someone about it. Seiichi just reacted so spectacularly to it.
"Oh I recorded it somewhere, I just don't remember what the weight was when I got here," Yukimura answered, crossing his arms and continuing to smile, "Of course there are. Or I could start wearing high heels. Then I might be taller than you." He had even sort of missed being teased by his friend, although he hadn't really missed it that much.
"I do not believe heels are the solution." Yanagi moved towards the courts, sensing that Yukimura's teasing limit would soon be reached. Of course, once Yukimura started playing tennis he would have more of an edge. "Although I am sure Yagyuu would appreciate them."
Ooh, Yanagi had been saving that for some time in the match. Ah well, he supposed there was really no time like the present.
Yukimura blushed slightly at that remark, but went to pull out his tennis racket and followed Renji to the court, "I don't know about that one," he said, his blush fading again, "Why don't you serve first?" he offered after a moment. Yagyuu probably wouldn't like him in heels...not that much at least. Maybe he should try it...
"If you're going to wear heels." Yanagi bounced the ball on the court before leaning back and serving, as fast and hard as he could. Yukimura would kill him if he even thought about starting off light. Though, really, Yanagi had not had a decent match since everyone left for camp. Not even Rikkai's high school players were much of a challenge anymore. "You may as well put together a complete outfit, Seiichi."
Standing back a bit, Yukimura readied himself to receive the ball, "I probably have one lying around somewhere," he commented. He thought he had a nurse outfit in his closet from Halloween, and there was that maid outfit he'd lent someone too. Those both had heels, although neither were very high.
His first meeting with Yukimura and he was advising him to cross-dress, and then there had been the conversation with Sanada. Perhaps there was something different in the water supply. "I'm not sure if that's something I want to think about." If for no other reason that Yanagi would hate to rile up Yagyuu. Well, not without a purpose anyway.
Yukimura laughed, amused, "I've wore a nurse's outfit around the camp once, Kite had made it for me. Although I have a feeling that quite a few people are trying to forget that day." He didn't mind remembering, since everyone had been in some interesting costumes (re: crossdressing or wearing very few clothes). He had some pictures somewhere, mostly because he'd found a camera in the apron-thing he'd gotten and couldn't resist. There were probably other pictures somewhere too.
"Really." They fell into a volley now, Yanagi working to reach Yukimura's returns. One skidded by him and he fell back to serve. It was far fairer than if Yukimura had first serve, Yanagi did not want to think about service aces right now. "Are there pictures or video? I would love to see it."
Should he add a 'for data purposes only' addendum? No, that would make it more suspicious.
"Of course there pictures," Yukimura answered, readying himself for the serve again, "They're in my room~ I could show them to you after the match if you'd like. I don't think there's any videos though," if there had been, they'd most probably be either hidden very well or already have been destroyed. He'd heard that someone had had a maid's dress too, but he hadn't gotten to see it, much to his disappointment.
"I am sorry I missed it." Yanagi served again, enjoying the flex and stretch of muscles. Tennis against Yukimura was always demanding, even if it was just the beginning of the game. "And yes, I would like to see the pictures, Seiichi." After all, pictures were just as good for (blackmail) data gathering purposes. It would be interesting to see how many people cross-dressed for the occasion. "Were outfits chosen at random, then?"
"I believe so, but you never know with the camp director," Yukimura answered, hitting the ball back over the net. Tennis with Yanagi could be both relaxing and fun. Today though, it was proving to be more of the latter, "Most of the pictures turned out very well, although I don' t have one of everyone."
"I will be sure to ask Sadaharu as well, perhaps he can cover your gaps." If anyone was an adept stalker, it was Inui. Though Yanagi could not understand how more people did not notice when he skulked around in that trucker's hat. Yanagi lobbed the ball back, and then prepared for a smash. "Well, unless he avoided putting people like Genichirou into a skirt, then I doubt it was fixed."
"Sanada wasn't wearing a skirt," Yukimura said, laughing at the mental image he'd just gotten. That would probably have mentally scarred half of the camp, or at least thoroughly disturbed them, "Inui probably remembers more than I do though." Stepping back, he smashed the ball to the middle of Renji's court, stepping back again and waiting to see if it would be returned. Now that the thought had occurred to him, he sort of did want to see his other best friend in a skirt.
Both Yanagi and Yukimura were probably terrible people for considering it. Yanagi felt the smash hit the edge of his racket, the racket slipping slightly in his grip and the ball rolling away. "Love-30." Yanagi picked the tennis ball up again. Maybe he could talk Sanada into a skirt, somehow. He would need a very good reason for it. "Sadaharu is graced with near perfect recall, but I'm sure you remember plenty Seiichi."
If Renji could talk Sanada into a skirt, Yukimura definitely wanted to be around to watch, "I'm not sure if I remember the boring things, but the interesting things are all somewhere," he said, smiling, "Like what happened when Sanada and Niou decided to give Akaya his boyfriend for a Christmas present." That had certainly been interesting. Getting up and finding someone sleeping in their boxers on a common room couch was always interesting.
Yanagi would do his best to talk Sanada into a skirt, the trouble would be if Sanada was receptive to the idea or not. Of course, Sanada could rarely tell when Yanagi was joking or teasing him, so there was a fair chance Yanagi could manage it. Yanagi nearly missed the next return because of a short swallowed chuckle. "I hope, at least, that Akaya's boyfriend was covered." The things Yanagi had missed while waiting on his sick grandfather. This was obviously why he had come to camp.
If Renji had trouble talking Sanada into a skirt, perhaps he could help to persuade their friend into it. "I'm not sure, Akaya didn't say," Yukimura answered, "He probably wasn't after Akaya found him though. I heard he was tied up really well," he hadn't thought about that for awhile, but it was nice to remember some of the things that had happened at camp. Volleying the ball, he smiled wider, "Dan hasn't found any of the interesting pictures yet," Of course, his roommate didn't go through his stuff, but he had occasionally left pictures in more obvious spots after looking at them.
Yanagi shook his head as it became Yukimura's turn to serve. "Does he snoop through your things, or do you leave them out for him to find on purpose?" Yanagi would not put it past Yukimura to do such a thing. "How 'interesting' are the interesting pictures?"
"Oh I leave them out sometimes," Yukimura said, "And interesting as in blackmail material and such," taking a ball out of his pocket he back towards the service line, bouncing the ball a bit before sending an easy (if a bit fast) serve to Renji, "As far as I know, he considers going through other people's things as an invasion of privacy and therefore doesn't do it."
The best way to earn someone's respect was to respect them first. "That is smart of him, I assume you don't snoop through his things in return." Yanagi sliced the ball back towards Yukimura. How many roommates did not respect each other's privacy? More than a handful, no doubt. "And Seiichi, there's no reason to go easy on me. I'll never get better if you do."
"No, I promised I wouldn't," Yukimura answered, running to catch the ball and lobbing it to the other court, "It seems like you haven't had many good matches since Sanada and I left," he commented, "You've gotten sloppy."
"You know how fast I degrade, Seiichi." Yanagi put a little more force into his smash than normal. "Once I lose opponents to train with it's all down hill." Although Yanagi had a training regimen he could follow on his own, he really did practice best if there were other people to play against. Years at Rikkai had definitely set that type of training style in his body.
That didn't mean he wouldn't be able to score against Yukimura though.
"I suppose we'll have to work on it then," Yukimura said, following the smash with his eyes. He may as well let Renji score a few times, since they could probably both guess who would win. Well, that and he didn't want to have to return that kind of smash so early in the game without having warmed up properly. He'd warm up as the game continued, then maybe he'd return Renji's smashes. Jogging over to pick up the ball, he smiled as he readied himself to serve, "I take it you've been increasing your weights as well?" he half-commented, half-questioned. A nice serve to the corner of the service box. He waited for the next move.
Yanagi did not even bother to follow Yukimura's serve, letting it pass him by easily. "Seiichi, if you don't play me seriously I will walk off the court."
Yukimura sighed and pouted slightly. Renji always could tell when he was going easy, "Fine," he said, pulling out another ball, "I won't go easy on you. But you can't go easy on me either." Serving again, properly this time, he moved towards the center of his court, more serious than he had been since he'd last played Sanada.
Yanagi tucked his racket under one arm and held out his hand over the net for a handshake. "Good game, Seiichi." Yanagi had managed to score every few times, without Seiichi's help. Granted, he had only gotten one game off of Yukimura, but he had not expected to get more than one. Hoped, perhaps, for two, but it seemed that Seiichi at least had not been slacking off at camp.
Yukimura shook the offered hand firmly, smiling, "It was a good game," he agreed. And it had been, Renji had even won one game while he was being serious, which was pretty good for how out of practice he seemed to have gotten, "Do you want to come up to my room? I have blueberries~"
"And blackmail photos." Yanagi smiled. He was feeling the work out from the match, and he knew Seiichi was inwardly critiquing his play. Yanagi was surprised that Yukimura had not stated 'your movements were horrible'. "Of course I will follow you back to your room, Seiichi." Yanagi picked up the handful of tennis balls that littered around his side of the court. No reason to leave a mess.
"Maybe I should mark your height on the wall while we're up there, so we can be sure you are not shrinking."
"You've just grown a lot," Yukimura said, pouting again, "And you need to practice more, your movements were horrible." He knew his friend had expected him to say that, and he couldn't just leave it be after all, "Don't you have my height recorded somewhere?" Putting his racket carefully back in the bag, he grabbed a few tennis balls as well, stuffing them into his pockets. Blackmail photos might be a good distraction for the other boy.
Not even blackmail would get him off Seiichi's back, well, not unless it was extremely good blackmail. "I knew you were going to say that, Seiichi." Finishing picking up the tennis balls Yanagi put his racket away and hitched his bag up onto his shoulder. He watched Yukimura for a minute, silently evaluating. Seiichi was not even slightly winded from the match, although he was sweating slightly. Yanagi had yet to see someone who did not sweat during a tennis match though. "And yes, I do have your height recorded. This would be for your sake, of course."
Resisting the urge to stick his tongue out, Yukimura picked up his own bag, "It's impossible for a person to get shorter," he said, taking a drink of water from one of the water bottles he kept in his bag. He wondered if maybe he could get Marui out to practice too. Kami-sama knew how much practice his ex-teammate had gotten since the last time they'd had a match. He definitely needed to do more training, if only to keep him from getting pudgy because of all the candies and pastries he ate. Leading the way out of the tennis courts towards his room, he didn't stop to check that Renji was following (even if he wasn't, he'd probably figure out which room it was).
The day Yanagi did not follow Yukimura would probably be the day his feet were stapled to the floor. Or, perhaps, had transferred to another school. "How untrue, Seiichi, you do shrink as you get older you know." Although it was for all matter of medical reasons and was not technically 'shrinking'. You did lose height though, which was the point. Catching up with Yukimura Yanagi looked over (and down) at his friend. "How has camp been for everyone else? I expect everyone else has been keeping their feet on the courts?"
Possibly, there was not a great deal of tennis related talk on the blogs. Yanagi made a mental list of the Rikkai players he would expect to slack off if possible.
"Marui has been slacking off. I don't know about Jackal, but I expect Niou would be too if he hadn't taken it upon himself to run shirtless laps with Sanada," that had been amusing, "Akaya plays all the time I think, and he drags his boyfriend along with him. Yagyuu trains with me sometimes." Yukimura sort of wondered if Niou and Yagyuu ever practiced with each other anymore, but he supposed it wasn't really his business anymore, "I see most of the other people who come to camp at the tennis courts at least once a week. And like I said, you're just getting taller, I'm not going to get smaller."
"Of course, of course. Hopefully my freakish growth will stop soon." Yanagi thought over the names Yukimura had mentioned. If Sanada and Niou had broken up and, it seemed, were at odds, then the chances of them doing laps together was… Well, Yanagi supposed it came down to how much Niou felt like teasing Sanada, and how open he was about running shirtless. Maybe Yanagi should suggest tennis to Sanada as a way to win NIou back?
"I am surprised you do not drag Yagyuu out with you every day." Yanagi reached forward and opened the door for Yukimura. "He may be one of the only people on the planet who I could see play doubles with you. Have you thought about it?"
"Doubles? Me?" Yukimura thought about it for a minute, "Are you sure?" stepping into his room he moved to the side to let Renji in, "I haven't really thought about playing doubles with him. Maybe I should ask him sometime. Would you mind playing against us with Akaya or someone if he agreed?"
"You're too powerful a singles player to take and put into doubles permanently." Yanagi looked Yukimura's room over as he stepped inside of it. There were… quite a few plants. Was Yukimura missing the gardening club? "Collecting, Seiichi?"
Shaking his head at Yukimura, Yanagi went back to the other topic. "I would play you with Akaya, if need be, there might even be a chance of you losing at doubles." Ah, needling, one of the best ways to get anyone to kick your ass.
"I brought some of them from home," Yukimura answered the first question, "I can't leave them with with 'kaa-san. And I doubt I'd loose in doubles, even if I played you both on my own." It was probably true. Now that he'd thought of it, he sort of wanted to try that sometime.
"You could also offer to play us with both arms tied behind your back." Yanagi offered. Though, Seiichi would likely still win, somehow. "Some, but not all." Yanagi looked over a plant he did not recognize from Seiichi's room, although he recognized the plant of course.
"If I did that there would be a possibility of me loosing," Yukimura said, "Some of them I got just before I came here." Sitting on the edge of his bed, he patted the spot next to him for Renji to sit down as well.
"A small one, yes." Yanagi sat on the bed beside Yukimura. "Didn't Seigaku's Momoshirou play using his mouth once, or am I thinking of someone else?"
"I don't seem to remember that," Yukimura said thoughtfully, leaning against his friend's willowy form, "It sounds like something he might do though."
"I might be getting him mixed up with a character from a movie, it's possible." Yanagi placed his arm behind Yukimura, not quite wrapping it around the other man, but offering support. Then Yanagi purposefully planted his chin on the top of Yukimura's head. "Did you change shampoos?"
"You noticed?" Yukimura supposed he shouldn't be surprised, "I think it was awhile ago," he informed the other boy, covering his mouth as he yawned. Maybe he was just a little bit sleepy. IT wasn't too bad yet though, so he had a few hours left before he'd head off to bed.
"Of course I noticed, it's not much of a change but..." Yanagi might be overly invested in knowing little details about Yukimura. ...And Sanada, he was absolutely terrible about Sanada as well. And possibly Aka- alright, he really needed to get a life. "It is getting a little late, should I leave you?"
"No it's alright," Yukimura insisted, winding his arms around Renji's chest loosely to keep him from attempting to leave. Not that he would or anything; it was just a precaution, "We haven't seen each other in a long while, you can't leave yet."
Yanagi laughed slightly. "Alright. There's no need to tie me to the bed, Seiichi." Or wrap around him like a creeping vine. Hmm, if Seiichi had a super power, would he be Poison Ivy? No, that wasn't nearly powerful enough.
Eyes gleaming, Yukimura tilted his head slightly, as if contemplating the idea of tying the other boy to the bed, "Are you sure I don't need to tie you here? And do you want some tea?" he asked belatedly, having spotted his teapot behind one of the plants aroudn the room.
"Positive." Yanagi stated, deadpan. Wonder Woman. Although, perhaps he should make Yukimura a male hero, but those rarely came with bondage equipment. Although their outfits often... "And tea would be lovely Seiichi, if you can find it among the plants."
"I think the kettle is behind the maple over there," he said, wandering over to said tree and finding, not the kettle but a box of tea. Well, that was one thing. He pulled the tea pot out and set both items down on a table to look for the kettle, "It's somewhere."
Yanagi got up and without being asked began to help Yukimura search for his kettle. "Maybe you should look into a shelf, Seiichi." Yanagi brushed away the leaves of a plant, and picked up Yukimura's kettle. "Or maybe a green house?"
"I thought about seeing if I could get one a while ago," Yukimura said, walking over to relieve Renii of the kettle, "Thanks for finding it," he said as he filled it with water from a jug he kept on the night table and set it to boil. In a few weeks he'd probably be asking his best friend where things were in his room instead of looking for them himself.
"Don't think about relying on me." Yanagi scolded, able to tell where Yukimura's thoughts were headed. "Doesn't your roommate help any?" Although, perhaps Seiichi's roommate had simply given up on the matter, or was as much of a mess as Yukimura. "Perhaps you should just requisition another room for your plants."
"Yagyuu and Sanada have some in their rooms too," Yukimura informed the other boy, "And why not? You'd probably know where everything was anyway," measuring some tea into the pot, he smiled innocently at his friend. The plants that Yagyuu had had originally been to protect him from his creepy room mate. Now they were mostly there because they wouldn't fit in Yukimure's room without spilling out on Dan's side of the room as well.
Yanagi shook his head slightly. "I really should not allow you to use me as a crutch, Seiichi." Yanagi smiled slightly. "But I suppose it's become apparent you can't manage on your own." Looking around the room Yanagi shook his head again. Seiichi could really be messy. "Does anyone regularly use the roof? Your plants would get plenty of sun that way."
"I'm not sure if anyone uses the roof, but I doubt it," Yukimura answered, grinning and going over to give Renji another hug, "I like using you as a crutch." The kettle was close to boiling, so he'd be letting go soon, but in the meanwhile he could continue to give out hugs.
Yanagi was tempted to lift Seiichi up. Instead he gave Yukimura a hug in return. "I suppose as long as you're willing to use me, I'm willing ot be used." Yanagi glanced at the kettle, but it was not boiling yet. "We should check out the roof then, for your sun deprived plants."
"You'll be stuck with me for a long time then," Yukimura stated cheerfully, "Sure we can go now, the water will be boiled when we get back." Jumping, he wound his legs around Renji's waist and clung to him like a panda, mostly to amuse himself. If he got a lift up to the roof, well that would be nice too. And it would be good training for the other boy to carry him up stairs.
Yanagi sighed. "Seiichi." Supporting Yukimura's leg Yanagi glanced over his shoulder, torn between amusement and exasperation. "You don't expect me to carry you to the roof, do you? I'm sure your legs haven't lost THAT might height."
Walking out of the room Yanagi allowed Yukimura to continue to cling to him. "Though I suppose heights make you dizzy now? That explains things..."
"I get a free ride," Yukimura explained, "And it's good training for you," resting his head on the other boy's shoulder, he buried his nose in Renji's neck, "And I told you, I'm not short." HE wasn't sure if that had been heard, but it didn't really matter. The other boy could probably guess what he'd said.
"Of course, so long as it does not cause unnecesary strain, rather like extra wrist weights, yes?." The urge to pinch Yukimura's ass was extremely tempting, but Yanagi held back. Teasing his friend was all well and good but there were limits. "And you may keep protesting Seiichi, I will keep teasing just as long." Knowing Yukimura so well was helpful, that and he could make out a few words despite the fact they were muffled by the back of his neck.
"It shouldn't," Yukimura answered, "I'm light. That doesn't mean I'm short though," He continued on, before he could be teased. He ignored the comment about protesting. He'd tried that, it didn't work very well. Blowing cold air on the back of Renji's neck, he checked his surroundings to make sure he knew where they were.
Yanagi shivered, and glanced about as well. "Right or left, Seiichi? And don't take too long deciding, we have a limited amount of time to work with."
"Left," Yukimura said, pointing with his right arm, "I think. It was that way when I looked at the map of the building, but I could be remembering wrong." Quite happy with the result of his action, he rested his head back on a shoulder, closing his eyes and waiting for Renji to carry him up.
