It's E3 week! Which means that soon I will be leaching music off game trailers, so might as well get the favorites from last month out of the way, ne?

Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe - Hot night wind was blowing, where you think you're going, baby?
A summer pop confection. Really, that's it--it's simple, bouncy, and I have an affection for the way the lead female singer sounds. It's sort of a less lyrical counterpart to "Brokenhearted" from the previous months. Also, I usually don't link actual MVs, but this one has a twist, which is kinda cute.

St. Vincent - All My Stars Aligned - What was your question? Love is the answer
So there's this anime called Planetes. It's about garbage collectors in space. And that summary does it NO JUSTICE, because it's heartfelt and amazing and realistic and politically saavy and it's hard not to love everyone on it and also SPAAAAAACE. And because I'd be remiss if I didn't mention it, Moon Ninjas. (IT MAKES ALL THE SENSE IN CONTEXT.)
Anyways, Mari and I were talking about Planetes, and she mentioned that this song makes her think of the show. And you know what? Someone needs to hire her to make those connections professionally, 'cause...yes. It works.
tl;dr FEEEEEEEELS

Bastion Original Soundtrack - Setting Sail, Coming Home - (Build that wall) I see your star, (and build it strong) you left it burning for me
Call this a representative song; I listened to a lot of the Bastion soundtrack last month, and while there are a lot of good instrumental tracks on the album (and the process behind creating them is
really fascinating), this was the other vocal track that really stood out for me. It's a blend of two of the character's themes, infused with the signature trip-hoppy sound of Bastion. Blah blah blah, it's lovely and sad, and since the LP of the game finished last month, perfect for that ending context, too.

The Owls - Air - Where I used to care, there is only air
Neil Gaiman's Twitter reminded me that this song existed. I had it randomly on my MP3 player before, and I used to stick it on repeat to walk across campus. It is soothing in a gorgeous, four part harmony way, and the song verses have a sound that fits the tone perfectly. It is such pretty anhedonia! And I can't listen to it just once ^^;;;

Ellie Goulding vs. Daft Punk via The Knocks - There's Something About Us Under the Sheets - In our house made of bacon/paper your words all over me
Speaking of songs I can't listen to just once...I found it on Tumblr. Tumblr players do not have a repeat function, so I popped it into another tab and just kept hitting play while I browsed. I can read a lot of Tumblr to this song! And it works for writing, too. BONUS. It is a very chill representaiton of "Under the Sheets", and the bits of vocals from each just play off each other really well.
Meme Request
I came across an interesting writing meme on Tumblr. (Tumblr Tumblr Tumblr! ) It seems like it would suit my inability to write anything with coherent plot right now. But! To do it, I need to solicit a word (or compound) for every letter of the alphabet. Twice, if possible. So A is for Acrimony, B is for Basil, C is for Corn Flakes, etc. The one I read used mostly concept nouns, but hell, I'll take anything. I'll figure out a way to use it! Or I'll whine to
raynos about it. Either way, it works! :) Please may I have some words?
ETA: Letters filled (thank you thank you, you people with REALLY BIG latinate vocabularies! - okay, mostly Latinate, but let me tell you a secret about English: the bigger/more latinate the word, the more specific it gets, and that makes prompts easier? THANK YOU) as follows:
A - aerial, apatetic, abderian (if I can find something for it)
B - bees (possibly covered in them)
C - crepuscular
D - defenestration (the Internet hates windows)
E - echo
F - florescence (this word is spelled properly AND awesome)
K - kitsune
N - nonchalance
P - petrichor
Q - quidnunc (such a great word)
S - strikhedonia (seriously, look this one up)
V - vivid
W - wanderlust
X - xylograph
Y - yearn
Z - zephyr
