Most people who do these write them at the beginning of the month. Not I! I have to take time to uh...think. Sometimes harder than I'd like to admit.
Most people probably write these posts with some measure of sleep in their system. But I was up late on my second playthrough of ME 2, where I somehow botched my Paragon rating enough that I could not get the desired argument option post-mission. Back to the drawing board! (Or in this case, back to an earlier save point so I can go mess up some Geth. ~*Yay Geth*~)
Enough life stuff, though. Music!

Christina Perry - A Thousand Years - I have loved you for a thousand years, I'll love you for a thousand more
Hey, look at songs I don't want to admit! But this came at in me in a triple threat:
raynos did a Madoka vid to it; I found a Homestuck Beta kids video mostly to it; and it got inextricably tied into the filial love story of an ancient krogan and a little human girl. And it makes me cry. SO UM, moving on...

The Marcels - Blue Moon - And when I looked, the moon had turned to gold
I think I've mentioned once or twice that I grew up listening to Oldies; that was my stepdad's preference, and he had control of the radio. (He listens to more modern stations. We rocked out to Lady Gaga last summer. Honestly it was weird...yet fun.) The only problem with this is that, much like hymns I sang in church or choir, a song from those days will bubble to the surface and take over my head. This one has been popping up for months, but it got stuck on repeat a good number of times last month. Turns out, it's great for the shower. I'm sure the cats were most am(conf)used.

AKINO & AIKI - Gekkou Symphonia - the entire chorus oh and anata ni aitai
Care of
the_firefly, a fantastic ending theme composed by Yoko Kanno. I have no information about it other than that and that I like it quite a bit. It's good "flights of fancy" music; I like the way the male and female voices have their own breaks, and then twine together on the chorus. The piano is gorgeous. It's pretty! and kind of epic. Worth a listen or six.

Thelma Aoyoma ft. SOULJA - Soba ni iru ne - You know that I love you dakara koso, shinpai shinakute ii n da yo
raynos and I looked up this song randomly for some reason that came up in conversation. We are behind on Japanese music--it was released in 2008 and was incredibly popular then--but we'll call it a symptom of my mixed taste ;). This song belongs to a type I would probably never listen to in English; my colleague Penko and I used to talk about how certain songs were much easier to listen to in your non-native language, because that mental barrier makes the cheesiness much easier to take. (The Spanish word, incidentally, is cursi, and I tend to think of this type of music as cursi songs.) So instead of going "Seriously? Really?", this song is just very pleasant, I enjoy the flow of the language with the beat, and it's titled with one of my favorite phrases. Works!
I do realize the irony of discussing cursi songs in the same post where I admitted to the general public how that particular Christina Perry song was played over and over again this last month. Ain't that just the universe for you?

Marina and the Diamonds - Oh No! - One track mind, one track heart, if I fail I'll fall apart
Homestuck doesn't seem like a very vidable fandom, but what is good is, well, damn good. This song launched itself at me out of one of those vids, wormed its way into my head, and has been in near constant rotation for about a month now. Unlike the Christina Perry song above, the connection isn't sustained by some outside emotional connection; the song is awesome in its own right. The opening kicks ass, and the music varies in tone and tempo in good relationship with its lyrics. And it's catchy; I infected Pea with it, too, and we now have the occasional conversation that just goes OH...OH NO...OH NO...OH NO-OH.
Random Ridiculous Song/Vid Snippets
Care of G-Modders and Mass Effect, we have:
Don't Disturb Garrus's Calibrations - Garrus in a sweat band, Legion dancing, and Grunt--being perfect. Sadly does not last the whole song, but the little short at the end is kinda cute.
Mordin 'Souls' - From the same group as the last (they have a whole "Legion and Friends" thing), this is Mordin's runaway keyboard driven dance hit. Which loops. And I have let it loop like Nyan Waits on occasion, just to watch Mordin shake his hips a little more. But that's okay, because I have never claimed to be a normal person in the first place. (G-Mod is apparently awesome for demonstrating hips? Does that sentence even make sense?)
Ha ha ha time to faceplant, wheee.
