The plan for tonight was to do some laundry, do some writing, and eat some chips.
I do have towels in--with the last of my laundry soap, must remember that--and did some completely off the wall writing. I also ate some chips (finally). But in the cracks between these things were videos, and so now I share them with you.
The Joy of Books, a cute little stop motion short about the awesome of physical books. I've recently started doing a lot of reading on e-readers, but if someone walked into my apartment right now and said, "Do you want to go to a bookstore?" I'd say, "It's 11:00 at night, let's go tomorrow!" And then I'd end up buying four books instead of the one or so I do on the e-reader, because price doesn't seem to matter when the store finally has all that Kim Harrison you've been missing and you can read it RIGHT NOW LET'S GO.
Fundamentals of Small Arms Weapons (a US Army training video, 1945), which I got from Sydney Padua (aka LOVELACE AND BABBAGE!) on Twitter. I've started collecting interesting links in my Twitter faves during the day at work so that I don't get busted browsing the 'Web. I was intrigued because she said this was an excellent example of instruction, and well, I've got a thing for understanding how firearms work. As it turns out, it's a step by step explanation of why all the pieces of a gun go together the way they do, narrated by that one guy who narrated *everything* in this time period. So far, it is fantastic, and I wish I could tell yall exactly why, but it just is. There's another part to it, too, and I'm weirdly excited to see what it contains.
Lastly,
Do You Like Waffles? Yes, I like waffles! And all the other breakfast foods. And I will be singing this and sending it to random people for weeks to come. FEAR THE WAFFLEBOMB, IT IS UPON YOU..
A-hem. Suppose I should go check on those towels now...
ETA: Oh yeah, there's also this awesome British PSA for
hands-only CPR. I sent it via my sister to my stepdad, who is a CPR instructor. He cracked up and wanted to show it to "everyone," so I think it passes. :)
