Skipped it today

Apr 26, 2009 20:26

I am still very sore from the other day. I did what all people new to Crossfit do and overdid it on my very first day. And now I won't take the rest that I need.

So I went to the gym and started with 20 minutes on the elliptical. I don't care what the people at Crossfit say about the elliptical. I love it. You'll have to pry it out of my cold dead hands. Crossfitters very much look down on the elliptical because they say you can get a better workout running or using the rowing machine. First of all, as I've said, running is completely out of the question. Secondly, rowing sucks. Moreover, I know that I'm working my rear off on the elliptical. When I'm done, even after 20 minutes, both the machine and I are covered with sweat. My pulse is 176-180 bpm. I get a perfectly acceptable butt-whooping on the elliptical.

Besides, Crossfit is supposed to be "broad, general, inclusive fitness." This means that by definition I can keep my elliptical if I want. I can do yoga if I want. I could do ballet dancing if I wanted (isometric, flexibility).

Anyway, after that I drove to Treman park and hiked the Rim Trail, which is another Rivendell Stairmaster, but this one is about five miles up and back again. There were trilliums everywhere and a lot of chipmunks. Here's another picture (this is a different park than the one I posted yesterday):

The other reason I skipped the WOD today is because, again, I have not trained all the moves in it.

Depending on the WOD tommorrow, I may need a real break.

rest day
