Welllll.... my dear husband is in a conundrum.  He has had progressive arthritis since his twenties - far too young!  We aren't by any means "old" now, either.  He's already had multiple surgeries on his hand, shoulders, and feet.

Now we're told he needs at least one spinal surgery, which is frightening!!! However, he also needs his knee replaced ( Read more... )

::hugsback!!!::

Thank you for the reassurances! :) We have been through this so many times already, but this is the most major surgery so far. A will be inpatient this time, for at least a few days, then intensive rehabilitation. I'm going to have to start calling him the Bionic Man or something...

I'm glad to hear of your aunt's experience. So far I have not heard one person yet say they regret having joint replacement(s). My father had his knee replaced a few years ago and is very happy with it, too. :)

I'm just being angsty over (1) the worry that there will be complications; and (2) the anticipation of having to take care of everything once again while he recovers, and also of course take care of him. He is rubbish at being taken care of! He's either a child or a grumpy old man about the whole thing.

But I love him dearly and I can't blame him for being cranky - goodness knows none of this is fun. June 24. Mark the date... Wish it were sooner; he is in so much pain!

Anyway, I hope you're doing all right! I saw you'd been on tumblr - it's great but not exactly made for having actual back and forth conversations. :P Unlike LiveJournal! :)
