Spain's Road To Davis Cup: First Round, 05 March 2010

Mar 05, 2010 20:21

Is that time of the year again...

Spain 1- Switzerland 1

We were supposed to have taken this already, with Federer out of the team, but Albert Costa (our Captain) screwed us up and called Nicolas FREAKING Almagro to play the singles instead of Tommy Robredo or Albert Montañes

First Rubber: Stanislas Wawrinka (SUI) def. Nicolas Almagro (ESP) 3-6 6-4 3-6 7-5 6-3

that pretty much sums what this match was, as usual Mugro let us down >_>

congrats to Stan, a true 5 set killa ;)

Second Rubber: David Ferrer (ESP) def. Marco Chiudinelli (SUI) 6-2 7-6(5) 6-1

Marco was 4-1 in the second set and choked the lead, but David was the better player all match long and managed to snatch a valuable straight sets victory

Now, we have to win the doubles and pray for Mugro to beat Chiudi, because I'm NOT willing to risk the tie to get to a fifth rubber between Stan and David, it could go either way
