Or, alternatively, "in which a woman tries to charm the crazy out of potentially dangerous men."
Which is to say that I watched Happy-Go-Lucky this afternoon. I thought the cast was great, but the movie itself was...well, it was a decent enough way to spend an afternoon, but the whole thing was meandering. And it's one of those movies where I think you're supposed to fall in love with the protagonist, and if you don't--and I didn't--then a good deal of the enjoyment leaches out. And there's only so much I can watch a grown woman put herself into dangerous situations because she's trying to help people troubled men. It raises my hackles in a completely personal and possibly unjustified way, especially when I get the feeling that the message is supposed to be "Look how much she cares!" rather than "Wow, she has no sense of self-preservation."
Like I said, though, I really liked the cast, particularly Alexis Zegerman as Zoe.
Oh--and Doctor Who alums: only one that I saw, Jenny from "Human Nature."
