End of Year Fannish Meme

Dec 22, 2011 17:13

Fic total:
Counting ficlets, 15.

Overall impressions:
Way more long fic than I would have expected, and not as many one shots. (Usually my fannish pattern is a LOT of one shots, and maybe one lengthy fic every year and a half, so, hmm.)

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Well, basically what I just said. Probably a little less, but I think the length of some of the projects makes up for it.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
Umm, I'm so mono-fannish that there's not really much I can say here, so my cop out answer is Lucy/Camille because Lucy didn't exist yet in January.

What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
Oh god. Um, the one that makes me happiest? Probably "A Piece of the Action" because it is so ridiculous, but honestly probably the space opera. There's so very much to that universe in my mind that I just want to play in it forever. If I had infinite time and didn't have carpal tunnel, I could easily write six sequels.

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
Not really that anyone else would notice. I… kind of tried to make my porn dirtier? idk.

From my past year of writing, what was...

My best story of this year:
"Going Back, Going Home." Honestly, I think that fic is some of the best writing I've ever done and I wish my original stuff was that quality (it's not).

My most popular story of this year:
Hard to judge, but probably either "A Piece of the Action" or "Reading is FUNdamental." James/Logan shippers are vocal, yo.

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
"Like A Fury to the Vicious Mind."

Most fun story to write:
SPACE OPERA ~~~ like, by far.

Story with the single sexiest moment:
Um. Gosh. "Rhinestone" maybe?

Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story:
Hahaha, space opera again. Really wrong and bad things happen to Kendall in that fic. (Also James, but he's brainwashed. Kendall is significantly more aware of what's going on when terrible things happen to him.)

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
"Like A Fury," aka the reason I want endless Kendall/Jett D/s. WHAT.

Hardest story to write:
HAHAHAHAHA "Never Did Run Smooth." I ONLY COMPLAINED ABOUT IT CONSTANTLY. But for all my complaining the end result was much better (and better received) than I anticipated.

Biggest Disappointment:
I'm disappointed that I never finished the Chad/Ryan Pretend Boyfriends fic. Honestly at this point (sigh) I probably won't ever, both because it's been ages since I worked on it, but also because I seriously cribbed the shopping montage from it for NDRS and it was kind of a vital plot point in both fics, and blah blah blah basically it would feel really repetitive to me.

Also, that I never finished the @#$@%ing futurefic of doom.

Biggest surprise:
The response to "Five Things James Learned at the Camille Academy of Dramatic Arts." So few people seem to be interested in het in this fandom that I was surprised anyone but Jess read it, honestly.

Most Unintentionally Telling Story:
"Like A Fury." Or the space opera. Basically, the porn with power dynamics. Heh.
