lost_in_108 prompt #13: gift. Cooper's words have haunted Sawyer ever since the day he confronted him. Now Sawyer has the chance to go back and see his mother, find out if she really was desperate to escape her life.
Juliet said it wouldn’t help to go, but Sawyer knows he has to. It’s eaten away at him, ever since that man said it; “She practically begged me to rescue her from her sorry little life.”
“He was playing you,” Juliet had said. But Sawyer needs to know for sure.
She’s struggling with her bags, drops one which Sawyer catches before it rolls into the road.
“Why, thank you!” Mary Ford exclaims. “My little boy woulda been so upset if I’d lost that.”
He can’t even remember what he got that Christmas. But it doesn’t matter. He knows she loved him, and that’s all the gift he needs.
