Summary: Written for lost_in_108 prompt #91: path. AU where Daniel and Charlotte met as children. Charlotte encourages Daniel to follow the path he chose for himself, rather than that which his mother chose for him.
Daniel breathed a sigh of relief to realise that the person sticking her head round the door was not Eloise, but a girl with red hair, slightly older than him. He’d noticed her at the hotel where they were staying, but hadn’t spoken to her before.
“No, don’t stop playing,” she said. “I was listening to you back there, and you’re really good.”
“Thanks.” Daniel replied. “My mother doesn’t like me playing the piano, though. She wants me to concentrate on science.”
“You should choose your own path,” the girl replied. “Do what makes you happy. My name’s Charlotte, by the way.”
Daniel shook her hand. “I’m Daniel.”
