Well. Lame.
My Galaxy S3 has succumbed to motherboard failure, apparently a known issue with a small fraction of phones.
I have zero cash to fix the problem, so it looks like Monday I'll have to try contacting the support center in Germany. I am NOT looking forward to messing around with skype and a German call center automated menu without knowning any German.
Also, the phone should still be under warranty (it was brand new, in sealed package when I bought it last October), and has the letter from Samsung (in German, of course). But I'm not the original owner--I bought it on the local craigslist equivalent. Some guy who owns a shop got it as a gift from Samsung for selling x-many tvs. I have no idea if this is going to be a problem for me when I try to get a warranty repair.
