Family pictures!
We got family pictures taken at Grand Prairie today. Grand Prairie is the sorta-hip, upscale new mall on the NW side of Peoria which some developer unfortunately decided to make an outdoor mall. Outdoor malls in So Cal are one thing (South Coast, Newport Plaza, ah the memories)... Outdoor malls in the Midwest (with names like Grand Prairie, no less!) are just a Bad Idea, unless they have a treebelt or some such shelter, and they're particularly dismal in winter.
However, I do have to salute the quality of establishments there. I buy all my business clothes at Jos. A. Bank, whose 15.5x36 trim fit dress shirts I just love. And Portrait Innovations, where we got our pictures taken, was just a top notch place. After the Penney's fiasco this fall with the catatonic photographer (hence the family portrait reshoot), we were bound to be easy to please, but my word... we had two photographers working together, and they were so engaging, with impeccable timing, enough to keep both kids in the game and get a lot of great shots. We previewed the shots on 42" plasma screens, got beautiful prints to 10x13 in 10 minutes, plus a CD of VGA-sized .jpgs. And their holiday package was like ten bucks, with no sitting fee! Can't beat that.
