ONE HUNDRED EIGHTEEN

Darling? Dearest? Shortstuff? You're supposed to be the wife, why don't you make me breakfast? You know, be the mothering sort. Practice what you preach, or some such.

I will be lounging. Bring it out to me if you so require, I'll be out on the terrace. You know, the one I bought with my finances? Because I don't owe benefactors mysterious funds? ( Read more... )

[Someone tall, Nordic looking and half dressed pads his way out onto the terrace, clutching a large pool net. Distracted by the views offered of the opulence inside the house, he hasn't noticed Robin there. But when he does:]

Oh! Oh, Mr. Goodfellow, you are startling me! I am just... you are having such a premium rate house, I am very much wondering what it is like to be inside you.

[And Robin... stares. Why did they hire him again? If Robin ever has any doubts, he just has to remember this highly enjoyable moment.]

Yes, I was just wondering the same thing.

[His smile is bright and his voice casual as he flops down on a beach chair. Pointing to a spec of nothing some distance away,] Dear boy, I believe you've dropped something over there?

[Whoever said there was a problem with immigration needed to take a step back and look at the finer things in life. A fantastic example, the display of obvious artwork in front of him. Maybe Holly should add this to her platform.]

[Ishiah looks uncertain as the owner of the household looks him over, surreptitiously trying to check for himself what there is to stare at. But oh! It's only a silly mistake he's made. Dropping something. What could he have dropped?]

Perhaps is only leaf, Mr. Goodfellow. Your pool is attracting leafs like the doings of an animal is attracting flies, as they say in my country. This is not to compare your pool to the doings of an animal, no, no. This is dirty. Your pool, I clean it!

[Speech made, he turns in the direction indicated and makes a throurough investigation of the terracotta tilework in search of this one stray leaf. Hmm. He bends for a closer look, but,]

Is no leafs, sir. You are sure it is here you are seeing something?

You know, I'm sure I saw something. I can't be hallucinating this early in the day; that's simply unheard of. I'd need another margarita for that, maybe. With salt.

[Of course, Robin is mostly distracted by the monument of artwork that is the human form in front of him. Thus, he rambles. But, really, who can blame him?]

I can't be your wife and your mother, you lazy cad, the former is already too much work. Honestly, I really pity the poor woman for having to put up with you for so long before I was bestowed the unfortunate honour of marrying you.

...

Why, coming right up, sweetheart. But really, with all this boasting of your wealth, you could have done to at least hire a maid while I'm working on the campaign~

You would pity h-... er, your views being so horrifically skewed. I'd pity you if I felt any concern for your state of life whatsoever.

You could treat her with more respect, Goodfellow.

More? I'd have to respect her in the first place.

Then you should try avoiding insults to her. I have a gun and several friends on the police force who would accept my claim of self defense.

...Officer Kelp. Surely you're aware that this estate that I bought with money I've all but broken my back to accumulate all by myself is big enough for the both of us not to make any unnecessary meetings and, ah, keep to ourselves, yes?
