[Places took on a new quality at night.
During the day, sunlight illuminated everything, bringing everything into sharp relief. Beautiful. Ugly. Colorful. Drab. It was all laid out, visible under the sun's gaze.
At night, though, edges softened. Colors faded into a monochrome tapestry, tipped with silver, and shadows lingered in the nooks and crevices. It was a time for thought, and a time for dreams, and a time for seeing things that could be or might be instead of what certainly was.
Maybe wandering a city at night (even a quiet one like Luceti) wasn't the best of ideas, but something about the magic of it drew Jilly out into the center of town. She finally settled on the fountain's edge, watching as the first wisps of clouds began to trail among the stars, and listening to the flow of the water.]
[when she speaks to the journal, her voice is soft. Musing] Back home, everything was so bright. Even at night. You'd never have been able to see the stars like you can here.
I kind of prefer it like this. It seems right to have real darkness...like you need a break from everything being awake, once in awhile.
But I miss how alive the city felt, too. It had a spirit to it. [literally. Her friend Christy had dated it, for awhile]
I'm sure this place does, too. But I haven't really got a feel for it, yet. Maybe because everything here is so impermanent.
[she dips her fingers into the water, trailing light patterns that shimmer in the moonlight] I wonder what it would be like if we could meet it?
[ooc: contemplative artist is contemplative. Feel free to catch her over the journal, or run into her in town if your char would be out and about. She's in the mood for stories]
