[Jilly had been quiet since the love experiment and draft. It had been too much, in too short a period of time, and she’d needed to think. And one of the ways that she did that best was with her art. She’d gone out occasionally, little forays into town or the woods to stretch stiff limbs and replenish her dwindling supply of groceries, but ( Read more... )

[there's a small falter in her step when she recognizes Buffy. There's was a lot left unsaid and a great deal more implied the last time they'd talked. But as the Slayer smiles, so does the artist, and she gestures for the blonde to join her]

Come out! It's not snow and it's beautiful!

[ rain has all kinds of terrible associations for the slayer -- though these associations were being slowly replaced by how common it could be in luceti. still, she was usually hesitant to go out in it. so uncomfortably wet and impractical and she hated having to change out of soaked socks or damp sweaters.

but jilly has a point. not snow and so she steps into the shower with a hand held a few inches over her head. paltry protection. ] Beautiful's...not the word I'd usually use.

[holding her hands out palm up, letting the rain slip through her fingers, Jilly just tilts her head back to grin at the sky]

But it can be. Water and life and a new season coming through. It's change. [and right now she really, really was ready for a change]

We only rarely got rain, back home. So you're right in that it's a big old change.

[head tilting just slightly] Where are you from?

California. The nice part, with the sun and the sand and the rain that tends to only come when badness rolls into town.

Ah...

Bad timing on the rain's part, then.

[she pushed her hair out of her eyes, dripping strands almost laying flat from the damp weight] I'm from New York. Rain and snow and sleet are all part of the package deal. And, I love Newford. It's a good city, mostly, same as anywhere else. But sometimes it's nice...the feeling that everything is getting washed clean.

Opposite coast, huh? [ she has never been, but new york was like los angeles in that its cityscape and flavours were undeniably all over television, movies, music. ] I'd only ever seen snow once before coming here.

[a laugh] That's hard to imagine.

...fairs fair, though. I've still never been to a desert.

We used to have one, here -- before the ocean decided to move in and evict all the sand.

[blinking] It actually moved in closer? That quickly?

Some kind of flood, thanks to the...[ the draft before the last one but hello touchy subject. ] Well, I'm kinda sketchy on the details involved.

That's too bad. Not that I have any complaints with oceans [and Jack and Kennedy would greatly prefer them, no doubt], but I wouldn't have minded seeing the desert once before it left.

I guess it's still there, in theory. Just -- underneath all the water.
