[Jilly wasn't much of a drinker, but tonight she didn't feel like staying at home with her empty rooms. Painting would have been relaxing...but even that didn't seem right, tonight. She wanted a chance to be around people... to feel the energy that came from hearing new stories and seeing new faces.

[Vash, like many nights, is at Good Spirits. He's feeling pretty good - what with not being a donut anymore and all.] Hey barkeep! Fill'er up!

[tehoniongirl]

[the voice is familiar, though it doesn't really register why right away.

What does register is that he matches the description the little girl had given him. Red coat. Spikey hair. He was the guy from her building. The guy with the little sister]

[goldenglasses]

Yeah! Having a heck of a good time!

[tehoniongirl]

[a laugh] That's good to hear. It's nice to see some people haven't had too bad of a week.

[goldenglasses]

Well, I'm doing better now that I'm not a pastry anymore. [Yes, he remembers you.]

[tehoniongirl]

Oh! Derek?!

[laughing] This look suits you better.

[goldenglasses]

[Vash smiles back.] Thanks, it's nice to meet a neighbor properly now.

[tehoniongirl]

It is!

[shaking her head] No wonder your sister couldn't find you. You didn't exactly look like yourself.

[goldenglasses]

[Oh boy, have you ever seen a man go from happy to a mix of worried seriousness in less than a second?] ...my sister was looking for me?

[tehoniongirl]

[the sudden shift in mood isn't lost on her. It echoes the unsettled feeling she'd had at the end of her conversation with Knives Tessla. Her smile fades as well, becoming slightly guarded]

She was alright. She just seemed like she'd been out in the cold for a bit.

[goldenglasses]

What did she say to you?

[tehoniongirl]

Just that she was looking for you.

[her smile's gone completely now, fingers carefully closed around her beer as she watches Vash, cautious.

"Tessla" had told her something else, too...but with the way Vash was reacting... she wasn't sure she dared tell him. Both for her safety and for that little girl's...]

...did you tell her you knew me?

[tehoniongirl]

Why?

[goldenglasses]

That wasn't my sister, but my brother. His name is Knives and he can be very dangerous.

[tehoniongirl]

[her eyes narrow just slightly. In a place where she'd met this man as a donut, it really wasn't beyond the possibility. But it had been a child in front of her... a child looking for her big brother... and she couldn't risk betraying a child like that.]

...she was just a little girl.
