I'm too tired ot work up a narrative. So list format it is:

1. My iPod, to which no name has been applied, is rockin' out this morning. A capella version of "Where the Streets Have No Name", "Butterfiles" and "Not An Addict" mixed with some Tony Bennett makes me happy. And, no, I'm not putting commas inside the quotation marks because I think it looks silly.

2. When did Patrick McEnroe get so old? And he's a brave man for sporting the "not quite unibrow". Obviously, he's noticed it's close and shaved the middle but it's still just a little too close. It's strange: he kind of looks like a skinnier version of Georgio Chinaglia (only people watching World Cup, or old NASL fans, are going to get that) even though McEnroe has got to be the least Italian name in the world. Except for Polinsky.

3. I feel like running away from it all these days. Work is too much, personal life is too much, crazy heat is too much ... in fact, I just got another death announcement from my synagogue while I'm typing this. What happened to the lazy days of summer?

4. Meeting Danielle's family this weekend. Granted it's cousins and not parents, but, still, I'm kinda nervous. Even though family always loves me.

5. Thursdays are my most emotionally draining days because it involves sending out mass emails for pretty much all my teams. I didn't get home 'til 10:30 last night and all I wanted to do was collapse into a couch. Except we don't have a/c in the den (it's not a living room; it's also impractical 'cause there's no door) so I had to settle for a chair in my room.

6. I haven't slept well in a week and my back has hurt recently from sleeping on my stomach. It's sleeping ... how do I fuck that up? It's a lay down thing. That's all I have to do. How hard is that? Apparently too hard for me.

7. Anyone have some Calgon? Or some cheese to go along with my whine?

8. Thoughts on attending opening nights of movies? Usually I like the rush of the opening nights of movies but I've noticed a lot recently that I just don't want to fight the crowds which is, frankly, a bit of a problem in New York. Looks like it'll be "yar!pirates" sometime next week.

9. I'm being required to watch "The Birdcage" because apparently it's hysterical and I've never seen it. Really, it's got Robin Williams in it so how bad can it be? I've just always had a feeling that it wouldn't be that good. Anyone else seen it?

10. Time to get back to charging people money for soccer tickets.

ETA: 11. I forgot to mention this but here's the thing: if you're going to order something online, don't fake every piece of info (including your email address, name and phone number) because when you order an item, THEY WON'T KNOW HOW TO CONTACT YOU TO DELIVER THE ITEM! Idiot. I know you want to avoid spam and everything, but, c'mon. It's tickets. How are you supposed to get your tickets if they have nothing but a credit card number (which, btw, won't validate with an incorrect address and name) to go on?

soccer, whining, new york, job, musing
