Right so I didn't like Muse when I first heard them. That was probably because the first thing I heard from them was Supermassive Black Hole, which is kind of an obnoxious first song. It is less obnoxious as a third or fourth song though, so I'll put it here in a bit.
The first song I heard from them and liked was this one.
If you want the official music video then look it up yourself, because it doesn't embed. And also it's kind of terrifying.
But yeah I listened to this and was like "whoa this man's voice is gorgeous" and that was probably the beginning of my falsetto kink. So then my terrible enabling friend from back in my middle school years was like "Oh man dude that means you should have this album!" and gave me Showbiz. Which is pretty okay, but not my favorite. But it does have this!
Which is also gorgeous but less acousticky than the other one, so it warmed me up to the whole RAGING GUITARS thing I seem to have trouble with sometimes (see: MOST OF BANDOM).
But if we're going to be talking about Muse, it means we're going to be talking about BLACK HOLES AND REVELATIONS, which is definitely my favorite album. In the world. Like, forever.
Why?
Well.
THIS SONG.
I am. Not entirely sure what their videos are. BUT THIS SONG.
alsdkfjlskdjf I could talk about this song all. day. Like. It has made my day better so many times. This is the song I pumped up and jumped around to when I got my acceptance letter to college. This was the first song on the setlist of my first concert and the first song I moshed to and sldkfjlskj THIS SONG.
to be honest, though, I kind of dislike the video. I'm sure I would like it more if I didn't take the song so seriously, which is silly because I never take anything seriously. THE POINT IS. THIS SONG.
Right, so they have another album called Absolution. I am not going in chronological order at all, so don't expect this to be a study of their musical evolution as much as it is a combination of alphabetical order and when I bought/downloaded the album.
I don't listen to as much Absolution as I should, but I am kind of in love with one or two songs.
Like this one.
This one's pretty sweet if you like it a little less gospel-choir-y.
And this one MAKES ME CRY. LIKE, WORSE THAN WELCOME TO THE BLACK PARADE AND DO YOU HEAR THE PEOPLE SING COMBINED. Okay, maybe not that extreme, but. Yeah.
Then again I'm kind of a freak.

OH MY GOD THE RESISTANCE.
So um, from what I've heard, The Resistance is a concept album based on when the guys, gathered around one day, thought: "Dude, what if we wrote an album based on 1984?"
Honestly, I thought it was just another Muse album, because uh. In case you missed it after Knights of Cydonia, MATT BELLAMY IS A GIANT CONSPIRACY NUT. I LOVE HIM.
sdlfkj THIS SONG. So when I first got my hands on Black Holes and Revelations I pretty much looped Knights of Cydonia for a year. When I got this album this song was my Knights of Cydonia. lskdfjlkj MUSE PLAYING THE BACKGROUND SCORE FOR A TURKISH SCI-FI FILM DIRECTED BY FREDDIE MERCURY. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO DESCRIBE THIS SONG.
They also wrote what they describe as a "symphony." I really adore these guys for their music, seriously, ignore the giant picspam up above.
I'm too lazy to post the other two parts because I need to save space for MIMING VIDEOS.
OH MY GOD THIS IS WHY THEY ARE MY FAVORITES.
So, Muse likes to play live. And they are damn good at it. But! If a television show wants them, but can't let them play straight through the speakers, they tell the boys "Okay you'll have to lip sync this sorry boys." This NEVER. ENDS. WELL.
