Hmmm... it would seem that Oz is unwell. Flakiness has now extended to Fedora Core 3, which previously ran perfectly reliably, and leads me to wonder if previous intermittent errors were actually the warning signals of the hardware dying rather than, as I initially assumed, software problems.
I ran memtest for a couple of hours, but that seems OK: whilst this isn't necessarily conclusive, given that Oz usually expires within about 90 mins of switch on, I figure it was long enough. Next up is something called 'CPU burn', or something, according to our resident technical guru, to test the processor's cooling is OK. If that passes, then I s'pose it could be the hard drive, or the graphics card. Time will, presumably tell, but in the interim, I'm offline at home.
Mali and I went up to the Westwood yesterday evening - it was glorious weather and the doggin had a good runaround (plus), but went charging off into the woods and wouldn't come back for ages (minus). We trekked right across to the far southern edge of the Westwood to go and say hello to friends who moved there over Christmas (this was the first time I'd actually made it over to see them), but didn't stay. So that was cool :-)
In GBA news, the difficulty level on Madagascar: Operation Penguin is upping - I'm now only getting through 5% per session. Still good fun, though, and if I find it at the right price (<£10) I will probably procure (the current copy's been borrowed from a colleague at work).
