"Penis canes are murder"

HOUSE HAS A DOG THAT LOOKS JUST LIKE MY DOG.

*coughs*

Okay, I liked this episode. They’re still not exactly memorable - I don’t think I’ll be in a huge hurry to rewatch the second half of this season. Now instead of something being off, off like a wonky version of Grey's Anatomy off, they’re just kind of dull.

I think this is the first time I’ve cared about a patient and their family for a long time, so kudos for that. And I’m starting to be able to see that hidden, likable side to House again. Kind of. Wilson has definitely been bringing out the best in him. Hell, can they just focus on their friendship again instead of any romantic relationships? The lack of shippyness in this episode was more than freaking welcome, and this is coming from the person who used to want them to explore all of the relationships more. I just didn't mean all at once. I love that he had so clearly grown attached to Hector at the end, and when Foreman quit, he looked… well, like he cared. Like next week he's going to do what he can to make him stay. Or at least sabotage his efforts to get another job in the most secretly caring manner possible.

But speaking of which, what the fuck, Foreman. Extracting the bone marrow from the kid like that was the worst thing I have ever seen on this show, and that includes anything House has ever done. I'm already tired of this quitting arc. Why do we have to waste arcs on Foreman like this? The only time I actually felt sorry for him was when he and Chase were in the patient’s backyard, talking about their mistakes and how they handled them. That was both nice continuity and a nice way to show us their differences. And okay, at the end, when he said he didn't want to turn into House. YEAH, YOU KNOW HOW YOU DO THAT, FOREMAN? GET YOUR OWN BRAIN. JESUS.

Wilson is love. Seriously. Thank God he’s getting some decent screentime again. Just thank God for all the House/Wilson in general. I could be a shipper, I tell you freaking what. At least with no realistic chance of that happening that can go crazy with the inneundo and spend a shitload of time on them, and ruin nothing. Cane shopping and fighting over who was more pathetic? Hee. And I love it that this is the second time you couldn't tell when House’s cane was about to break - it just happens. It cracks me the hell up. Especially when he just continued to have a conversation with Chase, Cameron and Wilson sitting on the floor, and Chase tried to help him up. And Cameron asked if he was okay. Yay.

Other small things I loved?

House: Pride and shame only apply to people we have a vested interest in. Not employees.

UM, YES. THANK YOU HOUSE. I’m telling you, they’re going back to House and Cameron. I just feel it. They're pulling back on all of the shippyness for a reason, people. And yes, I’m contradicting my earlier comment about wanting no relationships, but it's House and Cameron (duh) and they've been a fixture since the start. That’s more like going back to the status quo.

I think they missed a bit of an opportunity to explore the House/ducklings 'family' dynamic. It was there a little, with Foreman's loss of confidence and whatever, but not a lot.

Wilson: How long do you have to spend with someone before they’re basically family?
House: Good point. But first I have to tell Cameron and Chase that they’re violating God’s will.

HA. FAVOURITE LINE EVER.

The two best parts? The slow motion montage with Hector at the end, when he turned back to House and had a little limp. My dog-obsessed family are going to love this episode.

And if I remember nothing else from this episode in a week’s time, I will remember this. House and Wilson, walking in slo-motion down the hall, with the fiery cane, and Highway to Hell blasting in the background. YES. FUNNIEST THING EVER. That was like ‘Safe’ level laughing. And his ‘BITCHIN’ when he saw the cane. *snickersnorts*

Yeah, I’m trying to have hope that the last three will be better. They’ve been in this slump for a little too long now. If things are going to improve, I don’t want to have to wait until season 4 for it to happen.
