#142 Storm Drabble/Ficlet for Daphne

Aug 12, 2010 10:23

It's hot and it's muggy.

Peter turned up the AC in Daphne's apartment as he wiped his brow. "Does this thing even work, Daph?" He whacked the side with his hand.

She came into the room, wearing short shorts and a tank top, digging into a bowl of ice cream. "Nope, don't need it." Pointed to herself with the spoon. "Vampire, remember?"

He groaned, shedding his t-shirt. Before joining her on the couch he gives the AC a zap in frustration. The next moment the apartment goes black.

"Peter!!!"

"Oops...sorry."

He felt a cool hand grip his own and starts to pull him. "Come on, lets go outside."

Daphne lead him to the door and up the flights of stairs to the roof. "It's okay, Pete. You must have tripped a breaker."

It was windy and the air smelt like rain. He looked out into the distance and saw storm clouds rolling in. Finally some relief on the way.

Peter watched Daphne sit on the edge of the building, legs over the side, her head tilted to the sky. She looked like a priestess calling up to the heavens, asking the Gods to open up the clouds and let the rain fall.

He silently sat next to her, but looked down at the people scurrying along the sidewalk, like ants anticipating a down pour.

Within minuets the sky was lit up by natures fireworks and the building shook like there were bombs being dropped on the city.

Peter gazed at her face. A look of amazement adorned it. She was loving every moment of it.

With one more loud crack her prayers were answered and they were soaked head to toe. She jumped up on the ledge and twirled around with her hands out. Daphne stopped and jumped into his arms laughing.

"Come on, Peter, lets dance in the rain!"
